I am a fan of both fighters and I dont think it is safe to put chavez jr in with martinez. Its also not worth the risk because martinez doesnt bring any money to the table. Pavlik vs jcc jr is a bigger show, better matchup and a more fan friendly fight. Make it happen

It's just too damn funny that Sergio acts like he isn't doing the EXACT SAME thing Chavez is. . . Sergio has more drawing power (IN US) than guys like Pirog, so he won't fight him because the risk is high. . . Chavez has more drawing power than Sergio, and knows the fight is very risky, so he hasn't fought him YET. . . And don't use that "belt" BS. . In another argument, you same lot will say "belts don't matter/don't mean shyt". . . So which is it?

The difference is that Sergio Martinez is a high reward fight. Pirog is not. Chavez will get his biggest payday ever and will get a ton of recognition if he wins. And Martinez isn't a bad draw. Chavez vs Martinez will be one of the biggest middleweight fights in years. What would happen if Martinez fights a guy named Dmitry Pirog? He'll fight in front of empty ballroom like he did against Dzinziuk. No reward. Nobody knows who the hell Pirog is and hasn't accomplished anything of note. No recognition. When he beats Pirog and takes away Pirog's belt, Pirog will lose the only leverage he had. He'll then retire rich not being able to land any more fights. Pirog will then be seen as a undefeated Russian bum with 20 fights that Martinez fought as a stay busy fight that one time in the history books.

Doesn't matter if he's the ***en milky way galaxy champion. What you get paid is 100% the result of how many tickets you sell and how many people turn on he TV to watch you fight. Martinez is near the end of his career and what did he do with it? He can blame his promoter and himself for wasting his whole career. He doesn't doesn't deserve more than a 35% split of the purse.
