Martinez had to fight Dzinziruk. that wasn't a fight he or DiBella wanted.

Dzinziruk having a TV date was apart of that horrible deal HBO made to secure Bradley vs Alexander. Artie Puello secured 2 TV dates for Dzinziruk and HBO shoved him on Martinez because nobody else wanted to fight him.
HBO backed out of the 2nd date claiming they were over budget.

if Martinez had Arum,De La Hoya, or even Haymon he could have told HBO to f*uck off but he doesn't have that kind of leverage.


what HBO did to get the Bradley Alexander fight was probably one of the biggest blunders in boxing history. ***** Bradley got 1.1 million from HBO for fighting Casamayor lol

Martinez did offer to fight Miguel Cotto for free. if he's fighting some unknown guy then yeah it's all about the money.

but I think when it comes to the names like Chavez or Cotto or even Mayweather he seems like he's willing to take less. with those guys it's more about the fame.

although Arum is famous for low balling, he did it to Martinez when a fight with Cotto seemed likely.

1. His manager, training staff, promoter, etc. would never allow him to fight for free.

2. Miguel Cotto's promoter aka BOB ARUM (at the time) would have jumped at a 100/0 split, considering Cotto was about to become a FREE AGENT anyway.

So now we can confirm that, in addition to being a PPV disaster, Sergio is also a liar.
