No way Guzman won 9-3/10-2 unless you score pro fights like if they're amateur fights. That was clear Guzman win. Soto was coming on strong and ran out of rounds. It really was a 7-5 type of fight at most 8-4 for Guzman.

Guzman never in his life showed against any fighter that he could hang in there with Pac or JMM. Now saying that Pac ducked him at 130. But, Guzman never showed that against anyone that he could beat Pac or again a JMM.

Could he beat Morales, and Judah, and maybe Soto now? Maybe. But, I wouldn't bet on it. And, the only one out of those 3 that might have the most left is Soto and that is saying a lot.

Don't know why you're saying he can beat the likes of Garcia, Alvarado, Matthysse or even someone as mediocre as Maidana. When was the last time he proved it? You going off hype more than going than substance.
Agree with everything you said, also Soto vs Gusman it was a very close fight but let's not forget it was in Dominican Republic. Same thing with la hiena Barrios way to close to call it a clear victory. Having said that Gusman have a good set of skills and would conpeat with anybody @ 140 not necessarly would win.

He definitely lost the first fight to Funeka.

I think Guzman clearly beat Soto. But, I don't think it was wide/dominant as people have claimed.

holt/coleman winner, paris/judah winner, maybe even soto/matthysse winner. i think any of those names would be good for both guys. i even think maidana would be good. he's coming off a loss to alexander at ww, coming back down to 140 to fight a fairly good name in guzman would say something imo. it'd be better than facing another petrov in argentina that no one around the world even knows went down. a lot of different possibilities atm, especially since most likely opponents already have a date lined up for their next fights. he's getting older, he should be matched with a name soon before he really gets old and ends up losing to some espn type of fighter.

What about a Prescott? Holt-Coleman winner is good too.

i forgot about him, yeah that would be good. all i'm saying is that guzman is old as it is, anymore time wasted and he really misses his shot at fighting a big name and doing something with his career. i don't know who his manager or promoter is but they need to get things moving, dude's wasted too much time doing nothing. prescott/guzman would be nice though, i'd like to see that.

I hear you and I agree. They have to move him quick. I just don't feel he has earned or deserve a shot at a name fighter. Him and his team should push for it no doubt. Time is running out. But, like a Prescott or the level of the winner of Holt-Coleman that to me should be realistic and doable.

Great KO by Guzman... He put an exclamation point on what was a lackluster fight. He only got 1 round in against Castellano so I can understand him using this fight to go enough rounds to shake off the rust.

Guzman can win against the top Jr. Welterweight, but it will not be easy. He doesn't need to prove it before the fight, he needs to prove it during the fight.

Garcia unofficially lost to Ashley Theophane (who outboxed him); him, Alvarado, Matthysse, and Maidana are fighters that rely on their size, strength, power, and pressure to win fights; their styles are favorable matchups for Guzman.

Until he faces one, whether it's proven or not doesn't matter.

He's not the guy he used to be. Impressive KO, but he certainly is not the fighter who defeated Soto some time ago.

He could get into top 10 in the division, but I don't see him becoming #1 again.
