  • Floyd accuses Merchant of being drunk on the air and it is widely accepted as truth; just like he accuses Pacman of juicing and it is widely accepted as truth. I don't just outright believe everything Floyd says. I don't believe Pacman was juicing and doubt that Merchant was "drunk" while broadcasting.

I'm not a huge Merchant fan. I can see why some fighters would be annoyed with his tendency toward critical commentary. But Floyd took it too far. Merchant has also lavished praise on Mayweather at times. As for the racist charge. Floyd has expressed far more blatant racism, which tends to be rationalized by his supporters.

I am agree Floyd, he has been drunk on air most of the time, that is why he is so slow and always ask question or makes comments out of reason. Did you see what he said about Rigondeaux, the cuban boxer. If he has to ask controversial question, why he did not ask Donaire: Why you don't want to fight Rigondeaux. Larry please retire you are done and after retired you can go to AA full time.

Sorry if I touched up a sore spot Mr. Joe Glive. So Sorry and I are just sparring. By the way if you must say something negative, (which it seems you must) you don't need to be so coarse and vulgar, and you could at least spell my name correctly-to ease the blow.

And, by the way, I'm not an "anything -tard", never was, that's for brainless kids. i couldn't care less about either Pacquiao nor Mayweather, nor how much money they make or throw away. I just zoom in on statements not based on fact, or those which are particularly ****** and illogical. I an one of the remaining few who still believe that boxing should be a sport first, a business second. Not that fighters shouldn't make a good living, but the vast amounts of money available have ruined the sport, indeed all sports, which now become critical life making/breaking business events, not sporting events. Self destructive.

Many "fans" want to see broken bones and buckets of blood in return for their excessive ticket costs. Roman arena style, although, historically that was free to the public. Disgusting....

I agree with KNEELZ. Are you an expert on genuine TV inebriation? Maybe you are one of those TV "faith-healer" people and can 'feel your pain" by just placing your hand on the TV screen.....?? I've heard Merchant frequently for the past many years and have never heard a single slurred word. Have you?? Has anyone??

Merchant is a serious Boxing Critic, and has always spoken slowly. He's a "word guy" that's how he's always made his living right from his university days. Even in person he picks his words carefully to make sure the clear meaning is understood. Understood by most people that is......

His windup comment, based on what has just occurred in the ring, is not just a throw-off remark, he puts real meaning into it. Most listeners wait for his often allegorical comment.

As for Rigondeaux, why would you expect that a 9 fight newcomer would automatically be entitled to a World Title fight?? Merchant is absolutely correct. it shouldn't even be questioned. Why would Donaire have to answer any ****** Rigondeaux questions, assuming he knows who he is?

The first and most real Olympic star, Laszlo Papp had won the unprecedented 3 successive Olympic Gold Medals in 2 different weights, and was not considered worthy of a title fight until he'd been unbeaten in 30 pro fights. But by then he was 38 and his Hungarian Communist government cancelled his passport.

            • I find Merchant's interviews quite painful. I've squeezed out shits quicker than he forms a question.

Now that's a funny line. I bet some standup comic steals it.

                  • larry talks as if hes not even a boxing fan when hes commentating, 90% of the time all he does is bash whoever is fighting, calling em boring, and jim lampley and emanuel are not any better, the whole HBO crew needs to be fired, when watching showtime u can tell the difference, there no bias or smart a.ss comments because they are professionals there.

floyd is the best boxer in america, yet he gets no love here, the fans in PR showed him more appreciation because they recognize greatness regardless of how talkative the guy may be, when he gets in that ring what he does is damn near perfection.

How the hell is he a racist? U are a merchant hater an all of his haters say the same thing. Grow up! He is just doing his job and asking tough questions for which mayweather has no answer to. Mayweather craves everyones respect no he demands it yet he doesn't give it. You have to give respect to get respect Floyd!
