I've been as critical of Bute as anybody, but he is finally facing an elite fighter who is in his prime. And it's outside of Canada.

    He deserves credit for that.

There is no evidence whatsoever that he was made a ridiculous offer. Neither Kessler nor his promoter were willing to substantiate their claim by stating what they were actually offered. It's such a tired excuse, but if it had the slightest substance they'd certainly have gone public with what they were actually offered. The only possible reason for not doing so is that they know that most fans would not agree that it was a lowball.

Plus as others pointed out, Kessler didn't make a counter offer, which proves he simply didn't want the fight, or not yet.

By contrast, in taking the Froch fight in Froch's backyard, when most rate Froch above Kessler right now, Bute has proved that he does want to fight the best possible competition.

No evidence whatsoever? Thats not true at all. We have Bob Arum saying it. Mikkel Kessler also said that the offer was equivalent of offering one danish krone and finally Kalle Sauerland who told me that the offer from Interbox was so low that it was the same as saying that they werent interested at this point in time.

If all this was untrue then surely interbox would go straight out and call bull****. Make the offer public and expose Kessler/Sauerland as liars and duckers. They did not.

Thats what you call 'no evidence whatsoever'.

The only point you are probably correct in is that there was no counteroffer. But seriously. What should Sauerland do when interbox wasnt really interested? Make an offer of two danish kroners to hold some kind of bragging right? Thats ridiculous. This isnt kids-play.

He certainly gave Kessler hell. Are you saying that is not elite?

Nelson what's your excuse going to be when Ward travels outside of Oakland and still puts the hurt on your precious Kessler?

Maybe his detached retina wasn't healed properly?

Like Bute I'd give Ward credit for travelling. Remains to be seen though.

Possible excuses: Old, shot, injured are possibilities straight off the bat.

Arum didn't say he was made a ridiculous offer at all. In any case, Arum has no more idea what was offered than you or I do - he had no involvement whatsoever in the negotiations.

And no sane person can take the "one krone" claim seriously. That was just posturing. And for you to cite it as hard evidence is just silly. As I said, if they had any substantive basis for their claim they would have said what they offer actually was, instead of using silly hyperbole. But they didn't. And the only possible reason for their not doing so was that they knew that if they did go public with what the offer actually was, most boxing fans would disagree that it was a lowball.
