Fighters who don't try to out think Floyd and come at him winging shots trying to pressure him get tagged easily. The only person I see giving Floyd problems is Sergio Martinez at 154 because Sergio is a thinker and can adjust on the fly, is fast, a lefty and has heavy hands. Ortiz was getting beat up period and that's why he got desperate. If a fighter cannot adjust in the ring with Mayweather he is getting shut out.
Of course, but Cotto can adjust. He's got a good man in the corner now, there will be game-plans and backup plans. Cotto is a natural lefty too, was just talking with my boy about him going southpaw on Floyd and cracking him being a possible strategy. He can switch it up. Castillo and DLH is debatable but they were close fights where Floyd did not dominate or put on a clinic, that's the truth. Martinez can adjust? True, but so can Cotto. He's too big to make 154 anyway, it's never going to happen. Ortiz was getting cracked but he was landing on Floyd before he went crazy, I think he did that bc he's ****** more than frustrated, LOL. There was no need for him to do the headbutt, not like he didn't land a single punch or was getting pulverized.

Every fighter that fought Floyd had a chance, a gameplan. But Floyd's defense mission is to make any top fighter looks like a "d" fighter. Still, I will be rooting for Cotto...... WAR COTTO!!!!

I feel so much better now that I know he's going to use the same style he used against Mosley, you have to be very active and aggressive with Floyd, but at the same time you have to be smart.

Cotto is going to come out strong and bring the fight to Floyd but once he starts missing and paying for it then he is going to get beat mentally. Floyd is going to stand there with him and just pick him apart and back him down. Cotto may come off with some good connects but I just don't see him being that effective. He said he wants to use the same plan he used against Mosley but that was a close fight. If Mosley would have pressured Cotto from the beginning then fight would have been Shane but Cotto won it and more power to him. Cotto needs a whole new game plan because Floyd ain't Shane and pressure don't work. To beat Floyd is like playing mental chess. Cotto would have to get it down in the early rounds.
Great post. On the points highlighted above I (1) hope Cotto didn't really mean he's gonna use the same plan as with Mosley, and that the statement was something of smoke and mirrors, and (2) believe that the difference in this fight will be Cotto's new trainer. I just have a feeling he will be the key in Cotto winning, being competitive, or losing. WAR!

Cotto's chance is his greatest weapon: low blows

Granted Cotto has beaten undefeated fighters before. However, Malignaggi, Maussa, Torres, Quintana, Foreman and Pinto are NOT Floyd Mayweather. None of these fighters are Hall of Famers, much less truly elite level fighters. Not to take anything away from Cotto, but to be specific about some of these fights, Torres hurt Cotto bad and almost KOed him, Foreman fought Cotto on one leg for 2-3 rounds, and Paulie fought with a broken jaw from around the 2nd round on and basically outboxed Cotto over the last few rounds of the fight. This will be a good tough fight but as I have said quite a few times, unless Cotto can hurt Floyd and/or take him completely out of his game, Cotto is losing. Is that impossible to do? No, but 42 have tried and failed. Cotto winning means he has to be able to accomplish something that great fighters like JMM, Mosley, Castillo, ODLH, Hernandez and Corrales could not do. My guess is UD win for Floyd with Cotto taking a few rounds probably, but I may go out on a limb, and say late rounds TKO for Floyd. I know that is a real longshot at 154, but if Floyd would have pushed it hard and really wanted to, he could have been the first fighter to stop JMM and Mosley. No disrespect as always but I just cannot see Cotto winning this.

Very unlikely mayweather will have this man figured out by the fourth round as for them other "undefeated" opponents come on lets.keep.it real they are not of mayweather's calibur they were good fighter's but to try to make a.comparison here you're way off bro real talk besides cotto dosent have the power that mosley has to even hurt mayweather or stun him... mayweather ud.
