smart move from cruz. not to take merit away from trinidad, he is a good trainer but def never a champions trainer, good for 10 to 15 first pro fight untill you are ready for the next level. I was very disapointed on cruz last fght. Even tho he wouldve ko Burgos if the fight had been a 12 rounder, he just cant rely on that and needs to get busy early in every fight. I dont think hes defense is bad but more that he spent the whole first half of the fight doing nothing, not throwing punches at all and that gave burgos way too many opportunities to be the agressor.

He has made a good first step in understanding that the old school methods utilized by trainers from the Island can only carry you so far considering the significant methods of training employed by all modern athletes. Granted, those methods have been proven beyond successful with the history of respective multitudes of champions the Island has produced but all sports training requires ceasing on all the advancements currently being employed. I believe wholeheartedly that signing up with the “Cubano” is a fantastic decision. In all honesty, I have always been a fan of May but his antics diminished and overshadow his talents, which is my real problem with him but I really think Cotto can win this fight or at the very least compete. I hope this happens for this kid as well because he does seem to have a lot of heart.
