There were a number of reasons.

    1. There was little public interest in a rematch. Despite the fight being a split decision the overwhelming majority of people believed that Mayweather won, and many didn't find the fight entertaining.

    2. The purse split of the first fight was something like 65-35 in DLH's favour. For the rematch Floyd wanted 50-50, while DLH, despite losing, insisted on a bigger cut.

    3. Floyd agreed to Golden Boy being the sole promoter of the first fight. For the rematch he wanted the fight to be co-promoted by GB and Mayweather Promotions, which DLH rejected.

This isn't necessarily a reason, but it's also possible that Floyd wanted to deny DLH a rematch seeing as DLH ducked Mayweather for years (as I've probably said on BS before, DLH fought Mayweather in 2007 as a last resort, he initially wanted to fight Trinidad who had been retired for a few years).

Sorry to bring up Pacquiao, but the way Mayweather got the DLH fight is a blueprint to what Pacquiao should do to fight Mayweather. If the fight does happen it will be one of the biggest fights in history and there could very easily be a rematch regardless of how competitive the fight is. If he really wants it Pacquiao should simply agree to Mayweather's demands, and if he wins he can set the terms of the rematch.

If Mayweather had fought De La Hoya again, instead of going on vacation, then theres no way Pacquiao would of been able to fight De La Hoya and go on the run that he did (assuming Mayweather actually fought some of the top welterweights during this time). Mayweather effectively left the door open for Pac Man to become a superstar....

        The split was still good.
Floyd made Oscar a tonne of money the first time round...

The second time round, Floyd wanted a little more respect and a share of the PPV.

Oscar said no, and Floyd moved on with his career.

Ironically, he wanted a 50/50 split

And then the result of THAT particular fight would be a topic for a whole different discussion.

And remember the disparity between the drawing power of Oscar compared to Floyd was pretty big.

Whereas with Floyd and Pacquaio, its negligible.

I brought this up a while ago in another thread. More hypocrisy from Mayweather.

                  Dirk:

Before floyd ODH max was 1.4 mil ppv's with trinidad. floyd and ODH do 2.4 mil. DOesn't floyd make a case for 50/50? Even if one assumes all 1.4 mil were ODH fans who purchased the ppv,(obviously not), that means floyd brought 1 mil buys.

Doesn't he deserve more 2nd time around?

I think ^ the reason above is big enough to stop the fight cold. As outrageous demands aside

as you stated every news outlet that was talking about the potential DLH-Mayweather rematch seemed to have no interest in the fight, and had nada positive to say

so pay day issues aside, generating enough interest in the fight and getting fans to give a **** would be enough trouble

                      Three reasons why

                      1) Mayweather wanted a bigger cut then Oscar was willing to offer
                      2) Mayweather had issues with his hands
                      3) Oscar did do well in the first fight but behind the scenes they are all pretty close friends and business partners.

Oh yeah and the first fight was a stinker.....hardly any exchanges so for the average fan there was little to no selling point....
