  • Comments Thread For: R. Mayweather: who says Cotto is better than De La Hoya?

Roger Mayweather, uncle and trainer of Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs), fully expects his nephew to stop WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30KOs) on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Speaking with BoxingScene.com, Roger questioned whether Cotto presented a bigger challenge, in terms of danger, than Floyd's previous opponent, Victor Ortiz - and he also questioned whether Cotto is even better than the 2007 version of Oscar De La Hoya, who took Floyd to a twelve round split decision.

So, if that is case, then who's gonna watch a mismatch fight?

Roger saying that Cotto is an easy opponent, while Mayweather JR keep on praising and promoting Cotto as Undefeated Boxer!

Anyway, what ever the result, He's gonna take vacation inside the Jail!

        Money can't buy everything...

Roger keeps it real. Floyd dissed everyone but when he faces them, nbd changes his story. Such as cotto is flat footed when he talked about pac's opponents.

De La Hoya has always been a better fighter than Cotto. If any one disputes that, they're probably just Puerto Ricans, or a big Cotto fan, or big DLH hater. And I think even the biggest DLH hater, Jro, would agree. '07 DLH, is better than '12 Cotto. He stood as a better challenge coming in, and the odds were really close on fight night. And ultimately, I see De La Hoya having won more rounds than Cotto against Mayweather. I had it 8-4 Mayweather. Cotto either gets stopped in whatever round, after getting outboxed. Or gets outboxed widely on the scorecards. I don't see him putting up a better fight than DLH. The DLH fight was clearly won by Floyd, but Oscar definitely tried and didn't exactly get beat up, he just got outboxed.
