Really it is a dumb negotiating stance to ask for the minimum you will accept.

Floyd made a low ball offer of 40 million.

Manny comes back with I want 50/50

In negotiating the deal would be somewhere between these two points, that is how it works. You always ask for more than you want or deserve because maybe you will get it and it is hard to increase demands once things start but it is easy to give a little if you are asking for more than you want.

The deal really should be anywhere from 50-50 to 55-45, and when talking really big numbers they should be able to come to an accord whatever the final split is.
