Tyson's first senior fight was when he'd just turned 16, it was the ABF regions that he needed to win to get to the National Golden Gloves. He won the Junior Olympics two years in a row with straight knockouts both times, it was too easy for him against kids his own age.Comment

Amateur competition might be stiffer at Russia or Cuba..
but it's amateurs..
All the ****in Russians are to ***** to fight in America, let me give some examples..
Wladi***** Quitschko - came and got KOd by a golfer, he only won fight when he fought cupcakes in Germany..
Bitchali Clitschko - pussied out of fighting Rahman, but he's still calling out Maskaev(another russian bum) and Lewis(who's probably playing with his grandsons now LOL!)
Kid Diamond- Got his ASS handed to him by Nate Campbell..
Nicolay Valuev- 7 feet tall and got WHOOPED by Donald, but those biased german judges gave it to him..

Eubank lost his first five amateur fights (first stage of US Jr. Olympics in 82, three fights in Bronx junior league, first stage of Empire State Games qualifying in 83) because apparently he was being learned the peek-a-boo style which didn't suit his body structure, when he started learning to fight at range though under a new trainer at Gleason's was when he started to excel by winning Empire State Games qualifiers in 84 and then getting a Silver medal at the Games, then he got to the semi-final of the New York Golden Gloves before pulling out injured (against the guy he'd beaten in the semi-final of the Empire State Games). Eubank was chosen to represent NY at the National Golden Gloves in 1984 in St Louis, he got to the semi-finals. Then, Eubank beat Dennis Milton in the final of the Spanish Golden Gloves (Milton had won the 1983 US Nationals). Eubank stopped boxing in 1984 and didn't take it seriously again until the Anthony Logan fight in the pro's.Last edited by JUYJUY; 11-25-2005, 01:13 PM.Comment
