Steve Smoger had a hand in Devon's Alexander's victory last night !

Okay, that might be a bit of an overstatement. I thought Devon looked better than I've ever seen him. That's because I never thought highly of his overall skills as a fighter, although talented.

Just like Lederman, I thought Devon was holding excessively and that excessive holding messes up the flow of a boxing match.

Imagine if Smoger took a point or two for Devon's excessive clinching, that would've gotten Devon's attention and forced him to actually fight. I think the matchup would've turned out differently, not necessarily a Maidana victory, but, I think it would've been more competitive, do y'all agree ? Please vote on the poll

If Devon actually fought he would have stopped him.

Another thing, all I've been hearing was it should have been a 12 rd fight. Well if would have maidana would've got his azz handed to him for 2 more rds.

I didn't care for the excess clinching myself tho.

There comes a time when we just need to give credit where its due. Devon whipped the canvas with Maidana last night 7 thats really all there is to it.

I didn't say he didn't give him a good beating, I just think that the fight would've played out differently(most likely Devon winning anyway).

But, that excessively clinching didn't allow someone of Maidana's style to show up. You gotta have a certain flow to a fight, that was nothing more than the quicker guy getting his quick shot in and holding, rinse and repeat.

I really think Devon has stamina issues and lack of skills, that's why he does what he does. Penalize the guy and force him to fight and throw more punches and lets see how he looks by the 7th-8th round.

I knew someone would bring up this nonsense. Maidiana lost plain and simple. I'm actually surprised he didn't get knocked out, credit to him for surviving.
