The reason why Calzaghe was "successful" against Hops isn't just cause of work-rate it's cause he comes from all sorts of weird ass angles and has speed and decent footwork.

Cleverly isn't that clever of a fighter nor is he fast.
High workrate fighters get their workrate considerably lowered down when facing Hopkins and Floyd. Calzaghe threw like 700 punches against Hopkins, before that, he was averaging about 1000+ per fight. So Hopkins made him come down like 300 punches, which is a big difference.

When almost everything you throw is being slipped or countered, you tend to throw less and try to be more accurate, and right there already you fall in to Hopkins gameplan.

yeah and about 680 missed. calzaghe would have thrown even less but he has no shame and didn't mind looking ****** hitting air. some would give hopkins credit for great defense and shutting his opponent down but other less informed people would say calzaghe outworked him! the phantom boxing scoring criteria.

oh yea cleverly ko's hopkins with a 300 punch flurry that leaves hopkins gloves and shoulders battered beyond belief.

It's getting kind a sad how Clev/Warren continually release statements and give interviews about how they are going to face one of the other champions, then make absolutely no attempt to secure the fight.

They're just trying to build his name and have him considered one of the top guys at 175 by linking him to the guys who genuinely are the elite of the division.

I've got nothing against Cleverley at all. He seems a nice guy, his fights are entertaining, and he's pretty young so can be forgiven for not jumping in the deep end just yet. But don't continually bullshit the fans like this. It's getting a bit like the Khan PR campaign where he called out Floyd about 50 times and then admitted that he didn't want the fight yet anyway.

They already got caught out when they tried to pretend they wanted the Shumenov fight and then got called on their bluff. They're probably hoping that Hopkins has bigger fish to fry and so won't do the same.

A Maccarinelli fight, a Bellew rematch, and/or a mandatory defense seem the most likely options.

Leverly is very over-rated & hopkins bout probably won't happen, but if he beats Chad he may take hime, he sure won't have the nerve to fight Sylakh..

I like how people thought better of Bellew after his fight with Cleverly. When in actual fact, it just showed how good Cleverly isn't.

Never been big on Cleverly, he just doesn't have anything special to make it. He won't be fighting Hopkins or anyone that dangerous just yet, I'm sure Warren will try his best to build him up to a fight with one of the best in the division. Wouldn't be surprised to see him fall short against a good contender though.

Lets just see how Hopkins does against Dawson first.

Murat is still his best win.

looking forward to see who they have lined up next.

I am guessing it won't be Hopkins, Cloud or Dawson. Especially Dawson.

Calzaghe would of slapped Pavlik silly, literally. Listen Calzaghe is one of my least favourite fighters, most of his 'punches' were inaffective v Hopkins but to say that coming in at weird ass angles and having speed and decent footwork is what beat Hopkins then i disagree, Hopkins has fought countless fighters with these attributes and i'd even say that a shot Roy Jones had better speed and footwork than Calzaghe. If you let Hopkins set the pace your beat already, JC came out like a crackerjack and fought in his usual high output as inaffective and amateurish as it was he landed his gloves on Hopkins more times than Hopkins did on him and the judges went for that, not the cleaner more effective work
