Lewis ducked the top contenders Chris Byrd and John Ruiz and gave his belts away for not having to fight them. He also refused to face the two-time WBO champion Herbie Hide. He purposely refused to fight these men because he was afraid an upset loss against them would damage his legacy. That definitely doesn't sound like a boxing god to me.

Ruiz and BYrd were BORING featherfisters, and the networks did not think they realistically had a shot at challenging Lennox. They were looking for the next Mccall to get rid of LL which is why they hired sluggers like David Tua and undefeated Grant to get the job done.

Basically the 40 year old version of Vitali and the 38 year old version of the Lennox Lewis that fought vitali in 04 vs 'Iron Mike Tyson's entire resume of wins.
The only fighter I see on that entire resume of wins by Tyson that can even compete against old pass prime lennox and old pass prime vitali is Razer Ruddock. (Ruddock for those of you who have forgotten is this guy who took Mike Tyson into the deep end twice. 8 Rounds +. The same Ruddock who than got knocked out by young green lennox in 3 minutes)
I guess Mike's most impressive wins other than ruddock is frank bruno-old larry holmes and blown up lightheavyweight michael spinks. 40 year old Vitali imo beat ruddock in UD, and knock the **** out of spinks old larry holmes and bruno. 38 Year old Lennox beat ruddock in UD, and ko spinks,holmes and bruno all in 1-2 rounds.

Now let's see a old Tyson (the one that fought Danny Williams) fighting Vitali and Lennox's resume. Lol. I think half the guys on Lennox and Vitali's win list would have knocked out old Tyson within 5. lol. In fact even Shannon Briggs (the 97 version) might have knocked out old Tyson within 1-2 rounds.

1- Tyson beat a 40 year old version of Larry Holmes that can barely walk unsupported, and 2- Spinks is a smw.

Also this is not about resume vs resume. This is about how a old vitali and a old lennox will do against tyson's wins. And old vitali /lennox knock out both spinks and old holmes within 4-5 rounds easily. MEANWHILE Old Tyson will probably get taken the distance by chris arreola

Spinks was a LHW, and the best one in the world and Top 5 ATG in that division.
Holmes although faded was by no means shot and went on to beat Ray Mercer and Mike Weaver etc.

Denying Lewis' greatness is ******. He dominated an excellent era and erased any black marks on his record. His only downfall being Bowe's refusal to fight him when he literally threw his belt in the trash can.

By the time Byrd rose to top contender in the HW rankings Lewis was avenging a blemish on his record and going to defeat Tyson to earn a payday and legacy boost. Can't really blame him.
