Cleverly has a lot of the same attributes that Calzaghe had but he has no where near his skills and doesn't have power to go along with his pressure fighting style.
Yup. And like I said it will cost him severely on the world level. Especially against someone like Cloud, who will meet him head to head, but has alot more power, and has more overall skill and counter-punching ability then the people Clev has been facing. He has raw ability and raw athletic ability, but he needs to work on using his length and athleticism, and most of all his defense. He is just way too vulnerable to punches, even from domestic level boxers.
You really think Warren is going to put him anywhere near Cloud after this performance?
Few more years fighting poor opposition is looking like the outcome.
Yeah ...whats funny is how at the start of the fight they were saying big fights this year if he gets past Karpency but by round 12 even the Limy announcers were questioning that.
Clev is OK. . Only champion I see him having a CHANCE at beating is Shumenov, but even him I can see walking him down and stopping him. . . He has no pop, and not enough skill or speed to overcome it.
Cloud would definitely walk him down and bomb him out. . He better not even think stepping near a ring with Dawson. . A 5 year older Hopkins (plus 50) would tool him. . . Pascal would ball on him for 12 one-sided rounds or stop him mid to late. . .
Cleverly just doesn't have that other level to be able to compete against the best in the world. He should've really stepped it up against Karpency and got rid of him when he wanted. Works the body well, but doesn't really have the power for his style. Leaks a lot of punches and his accuracy needs work.
He's not good enough for the best in the division.
