More impressively, from the weigh-in to fight night he usually gains about 12-15lb. In some of his most important fights he arrived in the ring at 140lb, including against Salido (for a 126lb man this is an 11% increase, which is HUGE). That's what I call losing weight for a weigh-in...

I don't know why some boxers can do this with more ease than others but since Rios is not ripped at all, I have some difficulties with the "he is too big for 135lb and will be too weak" excuse. I really like Rios and I appreciate the fact that he hired a nutritionist this time, because IMO he should be doing 135lb just fine without killing himself by eating well and losing fat like most boxers do. I think he's had difficulties making weight in his last few fights only because of his diet but he has no one else to blame than himself. If you keep a high fat percentage and try to lose all your extra weight too late you'll be just burning muscle as well. Add that to not being able to eat or drink water, and you have a weak fighter. My question is, what is Rios real everyday weight?
You made valid points, other then the fight HOW DO YOU KNOW GAMBOA'S WALK AROUND WEIGH? any pics, sources or video footage?

Rios is just as big if not BIGGER then Ortiz

This is what I was saying awhile ago. Gamboa is not as small as some people make him out to be. He is really just moving up 1 weightclass. Having the fight at 135 might hurt Rios more so than it will hurt Gamboa

could very well be the case right here specially if what the op said is true... Gamboa always looked small to me tho but perhaps he's bigger than I thought.

This imo makes the bout even more interesting.

Yea but unlike Donaire, Gamboa didn't get shot up to top 5 p4p. Regardless, your comparison is unfair.

How is it unfair? Donaire doesn't control where he gets placed on the p4p list.
My comparison is that people rip donaire for being a big guy in a small weight class with a 140 walk around weight. Now Gamboa is like 10-15 pounds heavier at 126..... he's the exact same thing then by people's perspective.... big guy in a small weight class.

Because unlike Donaire, Gamboa didnt destroy 2 P4P ranked fighters
