So much for Rios being dehydrated at 135...

Did you guys know that Gamboa walk around weight is +150lb when he actually fights at 126lb? As a matter of fact, he is weighing between 152 and 155lb right now and looking ripped. More impressively, from the weigh-in to fight night he usually gains about 12-15lb. In some of his most important fights he arrived in the ring at 140lb, including against Salido (for a 126lb man this is an 11% increase, which is HUGE). That's what I call losing weight for a weigh-in...

I don't know why some boxers can do this with more ease than others but since Rios is not ripped at all, I have some difficulties with the "he is too big for 135lb and will be too weak" excuse. I really like Rios and I appreciate the fact that he hired a nutritionist this time, because IMO he should be doing 135lb just fine without killing himself by eating well and losing fat like most boxers do. I think he's had difficulties making weight in his last few fights only because of his diet but he has no one else to blame than himself. If you keep a high fat percentage and try to lose all your extra weight too late you'll be just burning muscle as well. Add that to not being able to eat or drink water, and you have a weak fighter. My question is, what is Rios real everyday weight?

    some good points there.

From what I gathered Rios struggling was mainly because of his diet between fights, just basically eating whatever then trying to lose all the weight quickly in training camp. From his recent interview he said he's been eating right since his fight with Murray so that he wont blow up so much, which is obviously smart.

I would imagine as long as he keeps his diet in check and stays on top of his weight, he should be fine this time around. Time will tell.

i wouldnt doubt he does. hes very big and very well built even when hes not in training. it think its totally believable and somehow he just has the discipline to pull it off.

i just think rios likes to eat bad stuff...........for some reason he seems like a guy that wouldn't take a diet serious at all.

this time around he has a nutritionist that will take care of that..........

Rios is too big for teh weight bro, he's about 170ish between fights. He kills himself to make the weight.

As for his body type, his genetics are a beautiful thing. He will never be ripped, ever, thats just now how his genes are. Even with a nutritionist you will notice problems in making weight for him. THere's a reason this is his last fight at 140, they want to 'experiment' and see if thigns are in fact easier with a NEW nutritionist, but he had one previously.

I would like to see some pics of Gamboa not near fight time, he is small like 5'5" he must look like a tank being 150-155lb of muscle at that height.

Rios is soft all around, like Daniel Santos. They have 0 definition, as their bodies are covered by fat and subcutaneous water.

With some discipline Rios could make 135 easily but apparently he likes to eat a ton and does little to no strength and conditioning drills.
