Lennox Lewis vs Rocky Marciano

The idea Marciano has more in common with LPRR than other QB fighters is older than I am. This is a case of context. No on praises him for boxing skills, but he does get praised by fighters, trainers, and writers for his ability to succeed using dead techniques.



I'll give one example so's this isn't god awful long. I spoke to this a few days ago. Are Marciano's feet wrong? Everyone knows Marciano's feet are wrong. Except everyone from the bare knuckle era. They'd tell you Marciano is the only one who steps correctly because everyone who steps front foot first is giving up power at any moments for running at any moment. Stepping with the front foot then bringing the back foot up is defensive foot work. It's neither right nor wrong but if all you judge everything by is defense first then it becomes so. What Marciano gained from being devoid of running is pretty obvious. Others can run away easier but Marciano can drop KO punches literally in any exchange and does it.


This isn't my opinion, it's not an opinion at all. It's simple fact and I'm not the first dude to point it out. They've been writing about how and why Rocky did everything wrong and still won since Marciano was champ.

He’s like 4 divisions bigger

Rocky was a great fighter but borderline dwarf in today’s world. Not far of Manlet status. Little limbs, small body.

Lennox is a much superior human being. Taller, longer and thicker. Heavier too. Much bigger hands and feet. Not sure about about pork sword.

I'm a big Rocky fan. No one should compare one era vs another. In 1936 Jesse Owens was the fastest man in the world. Now there's high school kids that can run faster than that. With today's diet and training Rocky may be 220 pounds. if that's the case then I give Rocky a real chance. A 188-pound Marciano vs a 250-pound Lennox Lewis. Rocky has no chance.

His foundation was his power.
Only thing is he had to find ways (usually by fire) to get to where he needed to go
He was a great man....his resume is another thing.
A guy can only fight who's available. Can't go into the lab and shlt out future HOFers
What gets me is when a fan of a guy doesn't own up to it.
Case in point...Fury is supposed to be greater than Ali
