I don't think Molina is a better fighter than Lara though, I consider that an important learning experience for Lara. I have no problem if a guy loses a fight early on in his career, means little to me, especially since Lara didn't seem too motivated for that fight. He certainly displayed his skills in his next fight.

I agree. But my point was to remind ts, that Lara himself got a break. However on the pro level of boxing motivation shouldn't ever be an excuse to lose a fight, then get a gift. Whether it's the Punisher, or Lara or even Cloud. Losses need to be given to losers not winners.

of course. no excuses for any loss but stuff like that happens from time to time.

all I'm saying is I wouldn't hold that fight against lara too much. He's still clearly a top 5 JMW and would likely give anyone tons of problems in the division.

I don't know how many people are talking about Lara like he's the "second coming." I know I've never been tremendously impressed with him. I think Erislandy is a quality fighter, no doubt. He'll give anyone problems, and will beat many top-ten junior middleweights. But if Lara ever becomes a champion, I don't think he'll be dominant.

As for the Molina fight: Carlos has turned out to be a better fighter than most people would've guessed. Lara has been quoted as saying that he took Molina lightly. I don't buy that kind of talk, but I know what I've seen and I have a good idea of what Erislandy's capable of. Lara's story doesn't excuse his performance, but I believe him.

Whether you believe Erislandy or not, the quality of judging between the two fights is pretty wide. While nearly everyone agrees Lara was robbed blind against Williams (at the latest FNF, Teddy Atlas said the judges should've been arrested), the draw Molina received was significantly less clear. I personally thought Carlos did enough to win...but a draw wasn't out of the question. A draw in Williams-Lara would've still been considered a travesty.

Hopefully we see Williams soon against a top 154 pounder soon. I want to see how he looks after a good confidence building win and without a long layoff.

Lara is good but that 154 division could very well be the most OVERRATED DIVISION IN BOXING!

None of them really impress me all that much, if Mayweather was to stay at 154 he would EASILY clean out that Division, first off all that Division has absolutely NO SPEED and they all have MAJOR FLAWS and Poor Footwork, the best 154 fighter left at moved to 160 and that is Sergio Martinez!

the most skilled fighter in that Division is probably Carlos Molina, Austin Trout, Vanes and Lara, the rest are VERY one-dimensional and/or have MAJOR FLAWS, Kirkland is a Brawler that can be out-boxed similar to Cloud last night, WE ALL KNOW ALVAREZ is PROTECTED AND OVERRATED! Paul Williams STILL HAVE NO DEFENSE

So yes I do think Lara can dominate this Division...but the fighters at the Top don't want to fight, they are all picking and choosing fights...Especially Alvarez!

This is true, however I do believe that Austin Trout could easily be the best fighter there, slightly over even Lara. Also the Punisher could compete with anyone not a southpaw.

I like Lara like everybody else but let's not get carried away here. If he was the real deal he would of should of could of knocked out P will in that fight. I like fighters who go for the knock out when it's there and trust me it was there.

This point has been brought up before, and it's a valid one. Lara has power, but possibly not enough power. He was hitting Paul at will (no pun intended) with everything but the kitchen sink...and he still couldn't close the deal. I was slightly disappointed with that. Worse, that apparent lack of power cost Erislandy the "W" on his record.
