Who doesn't Paul Williams blame is the real question. Certainly never himself. I think his mind is somewhere way off in La-La land TBH.

And, I think the answer is obvious as to why Sergio wouldn't want a 3rd fight. He argueably won the first fight (even though one of the judges blatantly tried to rob him in the split decision) - and after that horrendous robbery against Lara... enough said. If Sergio hadn't knocked Paul out in the 2nd fight, Lord knows he probably would've gotten screwed on the score cards again. Besides, I'd say there's not much Martinez could do to top his last performance against Williams... short of knocking him out of the ring and puttin him in a coma -so what does Martinez have left to prove against Williams really? High risk, low reward, know I'm sayin???

Should Paul Williams be grinding out workmanlike performances against Japanese journeymen at this point in his career?

I think any fight that doesn't end up with him flattened on the canvas is good enough for him at this point.

He's just way too hittable without having any type of exceptional punching power himself. A few years ago it was about Williams being there for the full 12 rounds, but now it is about him being there to be hit for the full 12 rounds. Everybody has a chance if they just manage to catch him right.

PW has to continue to improve, string together a few wins, and beat Lara first before facing Sergio again.

Exactly correct! TheGreatA ... PW should have never moved up higher than 154lbs. He doesn't have the power or the durability of the heavier guys -- couple those flaws with no defense and it was just a matter of time before someone catches him with a solid shot that takes him out.

His best move all along, was to own the 154lb division, since no one would fight him @147lbs.

Sidenote: PW needs to stay away from Sergio, because Sergio will catch him again with the same shot over & over .... which = KO's over & over.

To me ths guy should give Lara hes damn rematch cuz to me Lara won that fight and i dont even think it was close. To me Lara got robbed in that fight big time cuz the fight wasnt even close the way Lara was landing that left hand over and over again it was embaracing and digusting to watch a fighter get hit like that flush with same Punch and if Lara had more power he would have Ko'd Pwill in a brutal way and probably even given the guy brai damage. Pwill needs to improve on hes Defence but to me it is what it is the guy takes some to give some and to me he dont deserve a rematch with sergio cuz Ishida aint No top fighter to begin with Everyone knows that and Pwill does too.i dont think Pwill is gona go anywhere with the way he fights specially agaisnt southpaws with a great left hand. idk at this point Pwill aint getting noshot at sergio but he just take whatever money he has and just retire cuz the guy is only gona get brain damamge fighting the way he does.

Williams, you got a gift in the first bout so my boy ensured that the judges wouldn't be a factor in the second bout. You have to earn your third shot at the king, and by getting gift decisions over Cintron and Lara don't cut it. You did well last night but that was just a confidence builder for you, Sergio would murk you in one round if you fought like you did last night.

So you lose the first one, but as we've seen with your fights, you somehow get the decision (see Lara). Then you get knocked cold in the second one. Oh yeah, I can see where Sergio would need or want to give you another fight...

Paul should be focused on making his name a viable opponent and showing that he can actually be back in there with the best. Fighting flash in the pan Ishida and pitter patting with him for 12 rounds certainly isn't the way to put your name back into the discussion for much of anything, IMO.
