But like I have said, I doubt he is training like you suggest he is doing that would lead him to being over trained. I would think they are very aware of being over trained.Comment

Anyone got any current pics of Cotto.Comment

No doubt, I think TS understand this too. However like you said, you don't know what exactly Cotto does in came (like Myself) I doubt the TS does either.
What I personally took from the article is like I stated before; Team Cotto is preparing for the fight. WHo knows exactly what that involves. At the end of the day we are talking about professional fighters and athletes. It's safe to say they know what they're doing.
Preparing for the fight 12 weeks out can consist of many things but I didn't feel by this article that he's actually pushing himself in camp right now but rather preparing i.e. tactics and game plans, dieting, workout ragmen's etc.. Doesn't mean he's in there sparing, running etc 8 hours a day.Comment

Anyone that has trained for anything knows what over training is. Let alone not training enough.Last edited by WESS; 02-16-2012, 01:23 PM.Comment

Cotto is a veteran fighter, I doubt he will overtrain. Funny when people say that Floyd is going to go in and blow Cotto out. Floyd is not that type of fighter, what makes Floyd so good is that he is a true student of the sport for Floyd is like speaking a 2nd language, it comes natural, no current boxer has more knowledge than him in the ring. He is ultra efficient doesnt waste punches and doesnt bounce around and waste energy. He is about being in the right place at the right time, It will be a tactical match that Cotto is going to loose. But Cotto will have his moments in this fight and this is boxing so 1 good punch can change everything.Comment

Yes, I never disagreed with your argument and theory of over training but that of what Cotto is actually doing based off this article, which states that he has begun "preparation". Not a full blown training camp mode.

WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30KOs) considers his upcoming defense against Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs) as the biggest fight of his career. Cotto advised Raul Alzaga that he already started training for the May 5th clash at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Cotto's trainer, Pedro Diaz of Cuba, is already in Puerto Rico and the training has officially begun.
