JMM v. Cuenca: Why the hate?

There has been the customary NSB nerdrage when this fight was unofficially announced, but the question is why?

Its well noted that he is a virtual unknown, but just because he's unknown doesn't mean he isn't worthy at a shot. So he has a Canelo/JCC like record, it doesn't mean that eventually he can't be given an opportunity. Whether we respect it or not, in the WBO's eyes, he earned a #1 ranking.

We want our champions to fight mandatories, youngin's and bigger challenges. We want them giving other folks an opportunity. Why should they if we are going to lambast them publicly.

JMM isn't fighting Bradley, Kahn, Pacquaio, Cotto, Peterson, or Mayweather because they're all tied up. So instead of waiting, what is wrong with taking a tune up per se against his organization's #1 contender, in the 140 division? At least we'll get to see a fresh face and see JMM work to keep his sharpness up in hopes of landing some bigger fish in the spring/summer/winter months.

If my choice was between Diaz or this guy, I'm choosing 'this guy' because at least its someone new.

Or is everyone just wanting the JMM/Morales fight and their head is cloudy?

He beats up Morales maybe and then he's criticized for beating up a badly faded bloated guy at 140 for a paper title. And note, I too would love to see a JMM/Morales fight because I love 'El Terrible' and would like to see him get that win. But putting this in perspective, as long as this Cuenca guy doesn't pull a Likar Ramos, then I support this fight.

Discuss...you know...as rationale as you guys can.

He went 12 hard with Pacquaio, shouldn't he maybe take a step back, fight a mandatory and wait for all these big fights to happen and see where the chips may fall?

If not a WBO mandatory, who should he have fought?

Like i said yesterday i dont know Cuenca but he is undefeated, ranked 1 by WBO and earned this shot. But "fans" of this sport will complain about any fight. If May v Pac ever get signed they will complain about it.

So he has less power than Calderon and Malignaggi combined, doesn't mean he didn't earn his ranking and its not like its taking up HBO slots or on PPV

              So...who should he have fought

People are raging but don't have an answer as to who he should have fought. This is perplexing.

How many of ya'll dismissed said Calderon because of 6 KOs and missed a modern day ring magician with his tactical prowess. And not saying that this Cuenca guy can smell Calderon's jock strap, but it seems highly idiotic to me to just dismiss a guy because of his KO ratio. I mean really. You're good based on how many KOs you have?

LoL...I suppose we are on the same page...these dudes ***** about every fight. No wonder these fighters are reluctant to sign and fight across the board. We'll never see a day when fighters are breaking records for consecutive title defenses because lames will criticize every mandatory just because they aren't a big name

Yep. Give him the shot he actually earned. Maybe he sucks and been fighting tomato cans or maybe he shows the world why he is undefeated.

Good fighters fight the #1 contenders regardles if they are popular or not. If the guy fought his way to #1 status he should get a shot.
