a high guard aint so great with a guy who likes to throw to the body. Yes floyd is not one dimensional, but he aint the best pressure fighter. Counter punching is his forte, and where he makes his money, not walking guys down. Lol at thinking mayweather could even walk down cotto, he aint a volume puncher. He picks his spots, and lands a hard punch here and there, usually on the counter. I think it would be a mistake for cotto to play into that, atleast at first.

Besides JMM, Mayweather is the best in-fight boxer that can adjust on the planet. Whatever Cotto does Mayweather will be able to counter with something better. I am not a Mayweather fan but I just do not see anything Cotto can do to win this fight. Mayweather is just better than him. period.

As cotto demonstrated against margarito? Ofcourse mayweather can fight, cotto can fight a little better than some people like to give hiim credit for.

Let me guess, you thought mosley was too quick, strong, smart, better footwork, etc when mosley fought cotto?

but of course, mayweather da gawd cant be beat. Nevermind a trigger shy mosley buckled him.

It'd be much easier for Floyd to defeat him that way. The lesser punches Cotto throw, the more he'd fight at Floyd's pace. Cotto need to go balls out, throwing multiple wide, looping hooks to the body and and head, then follows up with the right hand. Problem is, Cotto is too vulnerable by the straight right hand and uppercuts.

I think he would be a fool to just go straight at floyd, thats floyds bread and butter, and i think miguels trainer knows this. Not that floyd cant fight coming forward, but thats not his strength. Cotto just coming forward would leave him wide open to be picked off all night. Just because you are making floyd come forward doesnt mean that you dont pick your spots to dig in, or that floyd wont find himsel against the ropes at all. Because of miguels jab, i think he could be fairly effective moving back, changing angles, making floyd come forward yet keeping him honest.

But of course this is a redundant convo to have, nobody beats floyd on paper.

If he can box him like he boxed Margarito, tie up when he gets in close, keep his guard tight and move side to side he has a decent chance to win on activity and ring generalship alone.

While Floyd comes forward, u run like Ortiz, instead u fight going backwards, UNLIKE Ortiz...This is how Moreno got his first loss, and he fights just like Floyd...U have to respect him as the bigger man, and pot shot, while running...I ALWAYS thought this was the way to beat him.

Cotto has to Jab with Mayweather even if Cotto's Jab is slower it is still a way to take away one of Mayweather's most underrated weapon. When he jabs with Mayweather he has to prepare to block that counter right. He cannot move his head when Mayweather throws cuz that will just get him caught with some **** lol....Good luck Cotto
