  • Oh yeah Guatemoc, what about the 1st round. Neither fighter landed, both barely even started to thow & Manny Stewart was going on about how Pacman was soo much faster & he was impressed with his speed & Marquez looked sooo uncomfortable.

I was like WTF is he talking bout, were only like 10 seconds in. Can he really tell that by the 2 faints & the rangefinder if you can even call it that LOL.

If you line up Pac and JMM side by side and list their PHYSICAL attributes only, there's not one category where JMM wins......ZERO. Pac is faster, quicker, bigger, stronger, takes a better punch, hits harder than JMM. He is also an excellent counter puncher as well, something a lot of fans don't give Pac credit for.
      Am I wrong here?
and that crazy motherf@ker came up in weight. JMM is a madman.

Between Lampley screaming everytime Pac whiffed on a shot and acting like he just crushed JMM or the first 4 rounds of Manny Stewart talking about how fast and great Pac is only to reverse it after the 6th round was just so frustrating.

So if JMM comes forward, isn't that the completely WRONG tactical thing to do because that will put you in danger of getting knocked down or possibly knocked out? See when Manny comes forward, he has the speed to avoid a lot of JMM counter shots but it wouldn't be the same in reverse.

So how the *** could Manny Stewart, a veteran of the sport and HOF trainer be asking for JMM to come forward and attack when that is the exact thing he should NEVER be doing vs a fighter like Pac?

        Am I wrong here?
I think your point is valid about Stewart being HOF and an excellent trainer. So he was saying in the biggest fight of your life. In a fight your in and possibly winning make sure in the eyes of the judges and dont leave anything to chance. Is that the wrong strategy for Marquez to imploy I think so, but if Marquez wanted to leave no doubts in the judges minds. Stewart wanted him to push forward be the aggressor and take the title from the champion and his mythical P4P title.

I myself thought Marquez won the fight anyway but im not the judge and in a close fight in the championship rounds you have to take it to the champion. I think Bob Arum's tactics are starting to backfire, about putting Manny in the ring with tailor-made competition. Bradley fight really concerns me because I really feel he will beat PAC and mess up the Mayweather Pacquaio fight which Bob Arum is trying to create a tournament to futher complicate things but whatever.

PAC run of late is a joke because of the ducking of quality like Mosley after Margarito, or Yuri Foreman when he wanted to set history, or bring Cotto down to 145 when Cotto was the champion and for some strange reason fighting Margarito when he had done nothing to deserve a shot at a big PAYDAY. I truly feel he is living on borrowed time and will be brutally KO'd within his next three fights. If Bradley follows the Mosley survival and Marquez circuling plan that has already proven to give Pac fits. He should do very well in this fight. Bradley doesnt have the greatest chin but normally when he gets chin checked hes in such great shape that he recovers very well. In closing just like Marquez wasnt dont expect Bradley to be a walk in the park eventhough he doesnt have KO power or any glaring advantages to really concern PAC.

        • I've never been in a corner against a southpaw when you didn't instruct a fighter to be first and pressure him. Backing someone up also means backing them "off"! Take the forward momentum away from them and get the southpaws weight on his back leg. The southpaws advantage is to step inside the conventional fighters lead foot and work inside it. The same hold true for the righty. Most boxers don't do well backing up even the good ones so if it can be accomplished while your also winning that way then thats the number one task. Being first with your feet and punches has always been the objective to be able to control your opponent. Ray

          • Man everything about their commentary was bad that night, I too have watched the fight about 10 different times now (as one user said earlier in this thread) and I see the same thing upon each viewing, while the commentators are painting an entirely different picture: that Pacquiao was ahead in the fight and that Marquez wasn't doing enough to win.

One of the funniest quotes of the fight though was at some point towards the end, I believe in the 12th and final round, Steward said: "You never should tell your fighter that they are winning by 5 points or any wide margin you just never do that" then Lampley responded by saying: "You don't hear Freddie Roach telling Pacquiao that he's winning, he's telling him to knock Marquez on his ass!"

They say he took the last 2 rounds off, but if so, why were the rounds still close?
