Comments Thread For: Malik Scott Reshapes Body, Ready For 2/18 Texas Card

Los Angeles - The very talented, big and gifted undefeated heavyweight, Malik Scott (32-0, 11 KOs) is back in business after over three years out of the ring, but still a young 31-year-old. Scott will be fighting Kendrick Releford (22-15-2, 10 KOs) on February 18, from the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas underneath the "Triple Threat" event featuring Paul Williams, Tavoris Cloud and Chris Arreola. Although Scott owns a unanimous decision over the tough veteran in Releford, this bout is more about what Malik will bring into the ring next Saturday than who he's fighting.

If Scott took the inactive period to get into great shape, improve and sharpen his boxing ability, and shed the sparring session pace/sparring partner mentality, he can be the wildcard of the division.

He has the size, skills, and talent, but the determination is just important and mental strength is just as important on the Championship level.

Releford is a tough opponent for a first fight in 3 years.

Malik, what the hell took so long for you to get back in the ring? Where the hell have you been?

Let me tell you, this guy was one of the rising stars of boxing in 2003. I hope he hasn't wasted his career. Should have been heavy weight champ a long time ago. Believe me, he can clean up the heavy weight division if he has any of his skills left.

I'm in disbelief that he's reemerged and seems dedicated. I had him pegged as the best American heavyweight until he stopped fighting.

I know he'd been sparring with Arreola. Not sure what else he'd been doing.

Heard alot about this guy but is it too late.

US does need a Heavyweight division again.

Too late for this guy. The position of light hitting American Heavyweight has been filled by Eddie Chambers.

I think he had a bad shoulder injury or something like that.
