can i ask why? Yes it's £10 per month, but they DO show great fights we would ordinarily not get to see.
i hope both BN and sky continue to try and out-do one another, the fans reap the rewards, no?
Because they take even more exposure away from boxing. Sky sports is a small enough network as it is where only football and the odd boxing match get over 500k viewers ... boxnation likely only has 50k subscribers max.
Sky sports was bad enough for boxing as it is. Khan used to get over 6 million viewers on ITV ... his last fight with Peterson only got 300-400k on Sky. Boxing gets Sky sports second highest ratings but compared to the terrestrial networks they get piss all viewers. Even Tyson Fury managed almost 3.7 million viewers on a ****ty network like channel 5.
Boxnation is just ensuring boxing get even less exposure. If they were simply showing the fights other networks didn't want that'd be grand, but they actually went out and snatched Wlad-Chisora and Cotto-Marg 2 ... while Primetime have been taking the May and Pac fights. Luckily so far Sky paid out to get Khan back off Primetime and replaced the missing fights with fights of their own, so they have no intention of just letting boxing slide away from them. Boxnation is just trying to rob extra cash from boxing fans. If they cared about boxing they wouldn't take the big fights, and they'd let us watch the smaller ones for free. Why would I want to pay ten quid to watch the golden glove final from Uganda anyway?
