TRUE or FALSE: If COTTO BEATS floyd, he BECOMES second greatest of our time.

Oh Bombs i dont know, oh bombs you so crazy. Well guess what?? I'll present you with this..

COTTO has a better resume than Mayweather. 96% of the community will agree with this. No doubt or question about it.

Now beating someone who has an inferior career BUT has better skillset (Ill give mayweather that he has better skills than COTTO)..

In the technicality of it all, resume, opponents and career wise.. COTTO becomes the second greatest of our time and current P4P after Pacquiao.

Having avenged one of his only two losses, the margarito one being tainted by the wraps... he has only lost to 1 opponent WITHOUT ducking anyone in his career!! Seriously think about it. And the one he lost to is considered the greatest of all time by many and one of the greatest of all time by the rest.

You can't present an argument for this not to be true.

I don't know if he'll be consider second greatest. If he does win, he will always be known as a great fighter by his career and will be known as that 1 fighter who was able to beat Mayweather Jr.

Or the first fighter to beat FMJ, there will surely be more defeats for FMJ because he's destined to head down the RJJ route.

Not saying Cotto is ducking, but aren't there some who say he should fight Martinez?

If Cotto does win, we will still have to wait until all of there careers are over with before we can start comparing them IMO. It will be easier that way. Even if Cotto does beat Floyd by a close decision, There might be a 2nd fight and even 3rd and Floyd might out class him then. Same with Pacquiao-Mayweather. If Cotto beats Floyd and then Floyd beats Pacquiao...then what?? oh, & lets not forget about JM Marquez in this discussion.

Avenging a loss doesn't mean the fighter is statistically one less defeat than he was a fight ago, nor does it mean he's wiped that defeat from his memeory. Different fight on a different night. If that is true, apply that logic to maybe... Antonio Tarver

The fact reminds that cheat or no cheat, Cotto was

                  1) defeated by Margarito that night

                  2) Cotto was beatened to a bloody pulp that no fighter wants to ever get a beating like that.

                  Again, cheat or no cheat

He will also be remembered as the man who stopped Margarito and avenged his loss.

Cotto already considered a great in the Welterweights, he in my eyes is considered a promising fighter in the Middleweight division. If he beats Floyd, I wouldn't consider him the second greatest, like many other posters said, he will be remembered as the man who took that 0 away from Floyd. That's a feat in itself.

I hope Cotto comes into this one in top condition like he did the last few fights, I really have a feeling that Cotto will have a chance with Floyd. This isn't a random mismatch fight or a case of cherry picking, this IS a FIGHT

Yep. I fully agree and only butthurt floyd fans are gonna go hard to dispute this.

I was watching cotto fight corley the other day, and it was his 22nd or 23rd fight...and all the announcers were talking about was how stiff the competition cottos been fighting has been for a young fighter. 15+ fights later...he still has that reputation.

                    Unreal.
