      I'd like to weigh-in here...

      TRALSE.

If Cotto beats Floyd, it'll definitely be history but I don't believe that elevates him to second greatest of our time. I think it would depend on what happens in the rematch with Floyd. If there isn't a rematch and he goes after Martinez or Pac, then I think he has a strong argument, maybe even for the top spot?

Cotto can't really be considered second best, if he's already lost to the second best. A score would need to be settled with Pacquiao, but if he were to beat them both, then **** he'd be the best of our time.

Just because some say so doesn't mean that it's either neccessary or practical. That would mean that Cotto is getting the Pacquiao special treatment, which is demanding more and more and more until he just collapses. Cotto is not, in my opinion, the special fighter that Pacquiao is/was. Especially against a top flight 154 and 160 lb champion.

every fighter cherry picks. Its a non-stoppable debate. Floyds been cherry picking since he turn pro. See what i mean. Its all matter of opinion. A lightweight fighting WW and SWW and beating them convincingly destroying them and breaking them down is enough.

American Dream....you're still "dreaming". MannyP wasn't schooled as you say. He had 3 close fights, and actually won all three. As you very well know. The closeness of the fights, again as you very well know, were because of the style matchup.

I don't know what you mean our time, last 10 years, last 20 years? In my lifetime, the greatest fighters have been Roy Jones Jr, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Bernard Hopkins, then you can add who ever you want after those 3. Marquez, Pacquiao, Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, Calzaghe, etc, who ever, but after those 3. IMO of course, you don't have to agree.

If he beats him convincingly, then he's up there as a modern era great and one of Puerto Rico's best ever. But idk if he goes to second.

Hardly 2nd best. Maybe lock in the HOF'er status. He would need more than floyd to reach best or 2nd best of out era/time.. I agree with the Manny rematch. Maybe beat a few of the young guns...
