Mayweater uses his left better than Cotto uses his left hook, but this thread is misleading. Overall, Mayweathers right is better because he is so accurate with it but he has yet to KO anyone at WW legitimately. Cotto's left while less accurate has more power and can end of the fight.
The problem with this thread is that I don't think Cotto's left hook is his best punch at least in this fight. Floyd gets hit with a jab more than any other punch and Cotto's jab is quite possibly the best in boxing. It has power, quick and he is always moving his shoulders now making it hard to time with an overhand right. People say Cotto is open for it, but in all of his fights since Manny I can't seem to think of more than 4-5 that were even worth mentioning. Foreman landed 2 solid ones in his fight, and I remember one in the corner. With Mayorga Cotto got hit by two good ones that he buckled on. But this was from a 175+ pounder so keep that in mind.
With Marg he really didn't land any GREAT clean solid punches, I remember more uppercuts than anything else. The fact is Cotto isn't really open for right hands, even Mosley didn't land THAT many and even those were looping and not straight rights. Floyds right isn't going to be used to go over Cotto's jab, it would expose him to be countered himself on feints which Cotto can do as well. This fight is much tougher for Floyd than people are expecting though I still expect Floyd to win, possibly controversially.
