ChAVeZ Jr vS CaRL FrOch @ 168lbs

I compare these two fighters too one another in my mind. I looked at Froch much the same way people do at Chavez here on NSB about 2 years ago. I even made a thread stating that Froch couldn't wah Joe Calzaghes boxer shorts at one point. I think Froch much improved and has shown me that he is world class.

My question is who would win @ 168lbs and do you think this would be an entertaining fight? ....Lefty

i know I am not fantasizing though....Why couldn't this fight be made? Chavez is abig middle weight coming in at 181lbs the other night. Fighting at 168lbs is not out of the question for him. There are a lot of interesting fights for him at 168lbs ===================>LeFtY GuNzZ

At 168? Froch would beat Chavez Jr. Froch is actually a large SMW, he was pretty big against Ward. Froch also has an iron chin and good power at SMW. Jr is massive for MW, but at 168 he wouldn't have as much as weight advantage as he has right now. Also Jr is not the hardest puncher at MW and at SMW he would be an average puncher.

I disagree with JCC Jr punching power to judge him off the Rubio fight is not accurate. I think the DWI and the weight issues took away form his performance that night. JCC Jr is a body puncher who sticks too his game plan. Froch has a great chin but few fighters can take body punishment and I think Froch would have issues with that left hook to the body. This would be an entertaining beat down win for Froch, that guy is proven against the best and Rubio who had a competitive fight with Jr is the best fighter he has faced yet.

For his size his power is a little bit above average at best. About his chin, let's not forget that he fights as a CW, while his opponents fight as LHWs or SMWs, so actually he's taking punches from smaller guys. At SMW he would be taking punches from guys that are about his size, but that have a lot more punching power than the average MW. Froch is a pretty solid puncher for the SMW division and I think he should be able to test Jr's chin.

Body punching? Yes, Jr is pretty good at doing that, but he's also able to land those punches because he's very tall for the division and has a lot of range. Froch is taller than Jr and also has more range than him, so it would be A LOT harder for Jr to land those body punches on Froch.
