As much as I like Cotto's personality I never saw anything technically in him that had me believe he would beat Floyd. Everyone knows or should that Arum did not want to put Cotto in the ring with Floyd at 140. Also Floyd dusted off Henry Bruseles (Cotto's sparring partner and friend) who Cotto helped Bruseles prepare for AND has his uncle in his corner. Not saying Bruseles was anywhere near being as good as Cotto but Floyd would have handled Cotto the same.
Miguel was getting rocked by lesser fighters in the division and was on chicken legs. Floyd mops Cotto at 140 no question. 147 Cotto was good but as he stepped up his competition it got tougher for him to rely on his punching power. Zab busted his face open and had Cotto resorting to low blows to get out of it (ironic because Zab did it to Floyd prior).
Cotto went tooth and nail with Mosley at 36 and Margarito pressured him. Cotto's style has always been, he'll take some to give some. Dude chin is too open and he has a hard time adjusting if nothing is working. Stamina and mental strength alone from Floyd beats Cotto and always has. People expect me to believe Cotto in his prime who got wobbled at 140 and went tooth and nail with top tier fighters was supposed to be the guy who Floyd ducked and who was scared to fight? Once Cotto left Arum the fight happened no problem.Comment

Floyd did get wobbled by Corley no doubt but that's not my point. My point is that at 140 Floyd stomps Cotto. Arum didn't want it period. Should not be no debate on that. Cotto is a good fighter but I just never saw anything in him to make him a threat to Floyd.Comment

Pac refuses to fight Cotto without a draining CW , thats a fact !!!!!! , dont talk about blabber kid because your kissing ass that dont deserve it , what Pac has done with weights with the sole aim of advantaging himself is a disgrace , he is a WW hype job he just ducked Cotto and went looking for a 140 pounder , Pac has become a joke !Comment

Cotto went tooth and nail with Mosley at 36... So Floyd is 35, Manny is 32, Sergio is 35 Klits are in their mid and upper 30's, Hopkins is 67. This isn't the 70's and before man, science and medicine are BETTER and fighters are fighting less. What was true 30-40 years ago doesn't necessarilly stand true today. Or... do you think the world is flat?Comment

This is funny coming from you, because Manny went down in weight to fight Hatton but Hatton had to move up to face Floyd... I agree it's not as bad as making a guy come down 7 pounds instead of up, but the logic still stands. Also Manny did pick the universal #1 JWW so you can't hate on him that much, the match is legit.Comment

Quote from GRUSTLER'S comment; "Everyone knows or should that Arum did not want to put Cotto in the ring with Floyd at 140."
In his 140 years I was pretty close to the Cotto team and a frequent visitor to the then Cotto based Bairoa gym. Yes, the fight with Floyd was discussed but not too enthusiactically for various reason. For one, the fight wasn't as financially 'hot' back then and Mayweather wanted wanted 75% all the revenue and 100% of the exters perks. His now late father and uncle/ex-trainer Evangelista admitted that at 140 the already weight struggling Miguel wuoldn't be at his best for a caliber fighter like Floyd and that the fight would be worth MUCH MORE in the future. THEY WERE RIGHT!! This I know first hand. Another thing to consider is that when Cotto moved up 147 he publicly stated that he was ready to fight Floyd but it was Mayweather that then uttered those still vaguely "unforgettable" post fight words, "I won't let boxing retire me, I'll retire from boxing.... bla, bla, bla..." and "tearfully" announced his retirement, or something to that effect. REMEMBER?? Okay, now it's looks like it's finally gonna happen. Many are predicting complete Mayweather blowout. A BLOWOUT?? hmmm... I don't see it that way. Do I believe Cotto will win?? ahhh.. NO, not really. But it WON'T be the one-sides blowout that many on this site are predicting. Do I completely disregard Cotto possibilities? ahhh... NO! Cotto is NO ONE'S Gatti, with all due respects to boxing's late Ultimate Warrior, and will prove it on May 5th.Comment
