i've been on the fence with this fight, but yeah, i do agree. a little guy is going to be at his heaviest for this fight while the other guy is too big for the division and will be drained getting down to the 135 lb limit. both should go their own way, it's not like both are p4p fighters or ppv draws that this fight needs to happen. gamboa should wait for the salido/lopez or broner/perez winners (or a nice tuneup while he waits for either one). rios should move up to 140 and face someone like guerrero or alvarado. to me, that'd be perfect fights for either guy to make next.

Isn't the fight signed for 135 already anyways? If Gamboa can't get Rios at 135, just go up to 130, or wait to see if Lopez beats Salido and fight him. Then again, I understand Gamboa wants to rush in to 147 to fight Pacquiao and get the big fishes in the sport. So waiting around for Lopez or going to 130 aint much for his plans. But I mean a title at 130 wouldn't hurt his legacy.
I wouldn't mind seeing Uchiyama vs Gamboa on HBO in Vegas. Uchiyama would have to come out of his comfort zone though. Given Gamboa wins he can fight the winner of Adrien "comb my hair daddy" Broner / Eloy Perez or like you say Kev, Juanma if he gets past Salido in their rematch. Juanma vs Gamboa is still very marketable, I wouldn't mind seeing it.

How about last time you "saw". I mean did the Nishioka win vs Rafa Marquez impress you that much? He looked very beatable imo.

I would like to see Gamboa versus Broner and/or JuanMa at 130. Asking Yuri to jump straight to 140 is laughable. I was never crazy about him skipping to 135 to begin with.

Neither was I my man, to be honest Gamboa fighting Bam bam @ 135 is risky but I can see Yuri coming out with the W.
Now @ jr Welter not a good move at all.
If Yuri takes the bait I would be very disappointed as it would show desperation on his part.

I doubt this fight happens at 140, Gamboa would be at a serious size disadvantage at 135 already.

I doubt he'd want to drop back down. Ortiz seems much more effective and comfortable at 147.

Ortiz can't make 140 anymore. I would like to see a Rios-Ortiz fight in 2013
