Comments Thread For: Vitali Klitschko Admits Being at Odds With Wladimir in 2004

Older brother Vitali Klitschko admits that in 2004 his relationship with Wladimir became strained and the two brothers were at odds with each other. During that time period, Wladimir was shockingly stopped in five rounds by Lamon Brewster, who at the time was a massive underdog. Eights months prior to Brewster defeat, Wladimir was knocked out in two rounds by another underdog, Corrie Sanders.

    Brotherly Love

Wow, what a revelation and a strange one to make on the run up to Wlad's next bout. In truth, it reveals an underlying thought or a lack of real belief maybe from Vitali, as no doubt knowing his brother from birth and seeing him hurt and shockingly stopped he must have thought, or does deep down inside that the right fighters in ability would best his brother. Truth is what he is also now saying, reading behind the lines is that the crop of fighters that could have presented threats for bothof them are now extinct, as can be clearly evidenced by the brothers alarmingly inferior choice or candidates in opposition, Mormeck and Chisora. Vitali brutalised Adamek and Wlad dominated a pathetic excusing David Haye...this was as close as litmus tests got for them of recent.

First off it wasn't consecutive defeats... Wlad came back with two knockouts in a row after Sanders defeated him. Secondly the manner in which Wlad lost both bouts were disturbing. He was blown away by Sanders & then hyperventilating & gasping for air at the end of the Brewster fight as if he were having an asthma & heart attack at the same time.. What older bro wouldn't be concerned? He beat up Sanders for him & Purity years earlier. Comes a time when the little bro has to take a stand.

Vitali questioning Wlad's manhood & livelihood has spurred him on to an 8 yr winning streak.. Sure there was the Williamson knockdown the very next bout after Brewster & then Peter knocked Wlad 3 times. Vitali also had to show Wlad the blueprint for stopping Peter as well. Wlad surely looks up to his bigger bro & knows that Vitali is looking after his best interests & welfare.

It's not a new revelation: it was a major point in the Klitschko documentary.

I believe you are reading way to much into it. And both mentally and physically Wlad is a completely different fighter than he was 10 years ago.

Maybe Vitaly just wanted Wlad to retire because he knew as little bro was still active he would always be the second best Klits and never be a true world champion. Its probably why he retired when he did, he was tired of playing second fiddle. It's obvious though that he has matured and come to terms with the fact that little brother is the greater brother.
