Think you have it all wrong. Junior isn't "making millions". That is expected, all going well, for the fiture. I don't know where you get your figures from? Mayweather perhaps? recently I saw some figures for Chavez fights, and I think his highest purse was under $300,000. Could be wrong, and also PPV may make him much more, but I dont' think "millions". He hasn't reached that level yet. His Rubio fight sold 13,000 tickets.

In PPV star Cotto's very recent fight against Mayorga, late last year, he got $1 mill. Mayorga got $50 thousand. In Cotto's fight against the popular Foreman, Foreman earned $300,000.

Cotto is not elite, he has lost all his big fights just like gatti did. Both are/were warriors in the ring though, but gatti would never take a knee even against plaster.

I suppose "stepping up and be and be a champ" really means "stepping up and be a chump". Why should any presently overmatched fighter sign on for an almost certain loss, and lose most of his earning power, just to satisfy your thirst for blood, anybody's blood.?? He's in the business to make a living. The guy is still improving with every fight.

Don't bother looking for free streams if you freel this way. He won't miss you.

I suppose the chances he'll ever fight Sergio Martinez is around the same as Mayweather-Pacquiao as in never.

Biased comment from a Guido. Cotto not Elite? The guy has always held a championship belt since 2005. He's defeated everyone he's fought except Margacheato who clearly cheated in their 1st fight with plaster and he just avenged that lost. Then he lost to Pacquiao who made him starve to fight at the catch weight of 145 lbs resulting in him being weak and having no power in his punches while Pacquiao was fighting in his natural weight eating steak during the 24/7 show.

Cotto still managed to rupture Manny's ear drum. Thats why Manny just refused to fight Cotto at 150lbs. It would be a totally different story. I don't even know why I bother writting a response to this moron who clearly knows **** about boxing.

Gotti was a B-level fighter at best. All he did was drink and do coke all over Jersey at stip clubs. His best fights were with Mickey Ward and they were a sloppy mess. The guy had 9 losses in his career. Cotto only has two losses. One loss with a bum who cheated which he avenged the loss and the 2nd loss to the best fighter on the planet who weight drain all of his opponents.

This Greisman clown is a real jerk comparing Cotto to Gatti. The guy either has his head up his ahssssssss or clearly doesn't know shhhiitt about boxing. All of the sudden Mayweather is superman n ssshhhitt. Gayweather won his last fight via sucka punch, beat up on 140 lb midget in Marquez, KO'd overrated Hatton and all of the other fights were snooze fest.

Greisman can go and suck a kock.

Appreciate your comments, folks. My belief is that the result of Mayweather vs. Cotto will be similar to what we saw with Mayweather vs. Gatti — not that Cotto and Gatti are comparable in accomplishments or ability.

Just a prediction. Sometimes we're right. Sometimes we're wrong. I was wrong about Pacquiao demolishing Marquez in their third bout, after all.

If you're at all familiar with my work, you'll see the high regard I've held for Miguel Cotto in the seven-and-a-half years in which I've covered this sport. That still doesn't change what I feel will happen.

I'm willing to listen to and have discussions about why you differ. But you don't win an argument when your opinion is limited to demeaning the person with whom you disagree.

I appreciate the criticism. I'm constantly seeking to improve my writing. But I'm pretty sure my writing's just not for you, then. No need for you to keep coming back to it each week, then, as you seem to do.

Ok David.... Perhaps I went a bit overboard asking you to go suck a Kock but this is a forum with passionate fans filled potty mouths... We're all men here. Nothing personal... When I post a comments that someone dislikes, I get told to go screw myself all the time. Having that said, your entitled to your opinion but your supposed to be a guru of the sport or a so called "expert". To say that Mayweather vs Cotto is synonymous to Mayweather vs Gatti is completely off base and out of line. A comment like that questions your judgement and knowledge of boxing.

Your article was supposed to attract comments regarding Chavez Jr and most comments posted on this blog was about you sentence comparing Mayweather vs Cotto to another Mayweather vs Gatti. Notice that everyone disagreed with you. Not because we're Cotto nuthuggers but there's Gatti (RIP) should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Cotto. Cotto has accomplished to much for the sport of boxing filling up Madison Square Garden and Vegas to be compared to a Jersey boy that all he did was fill up the boardwalk in Atlantic City.... Night and Day..... You gotta be a bit more carefull with your analysis cause the aficionados here can be a bit unforgiving lol.
