Thompson is as good as any other fight because all the good fighters have already been defeated, so now the Klitschkos can fight whoever and it won't make a difference. There isn't a single top fighter the Klitschkos haven't fought and defeated already, so they'll have to face recycled opponents or undeserving opponents until the current batch of prospects like Mitchell, Pulev, Perez and company graduate to contenders. Doesn't mean Thompson is the best fighter apart from the Klitschkos or anything close.

What choice? There is no choice. Remember the days where you had to have AT LEAST 30 fight before a title shot.Nothing happened to me. I've never been a blind hater or a blind nuthugger of anyone, and if Wlad takes on another quality opponent (like he has in the past in Ibragimov, Chambers, Byrd, Haye, Chagaev etc) then I'll defend him from anoyone that seeks to belittle him or his choice of opponent. I'm not going to defend him fighting Mormeck and Thompson though.
Also, I haven't said a bad word about Wlad in this entire thread, skill-wise. My problem is entirely with his choice of opponents.
David Price has only had 12 fights, Chisora's lost a few and blows hot and cold, Fury has fought noone and is scared of Price, Mormeck is old, Wilder is unproven, Arreola is okay but likely to get blown away, noone knows what Haye is doing, Povetkin is overrated and won't fight the brothers, Chambers is fat, Helenus is slow and lost to Chisora, Thompson is old and slow, Huck is unproven at Heavyweight, Holyfield is 50, Samuel Peter is fat and slow.
They will get critised whoever they fight. The only way they can earn respect is to fight eachother!Comment

True. A lot of people threw Helenius under the bus after that fight. I'm willing to give him a second chance, especially considering it seems he legitimately hurt his hand in the first. But the fact remains that he should have lost that fight and shouldn't currently be ranked in the top ten. Injuries are part of the sport. Blatant robberies, however, should not be.I've got to be fair to Helenius: he fought with a bad right shoulder and a bad right hand (injured early in the fight). He probably should have called off the fight, and had since had a shoulder operation that could end his career.
Even with all that, he still almost stopped Chisora in round one, by Del Boy's own admission.
You're damned if you do, and damned if you don't, when it comes to boxing.Comment

If he's happy to fight Mormeck and Thompson, fine. But don't whine about people getting critical of this. This deserves criticism.
What does beating old man Thompson again do for him? Nothing, but fulfil a contractual obligation.
Wlad's in a position now where he should be chasing legacy fights. That means taking on big names, or taking on new, preferably young and hungry fighters of which this current division isn't totally devoid.
Wlad's not getting any younger, and he shouldn't be wasting his time on meaningless fights like this.Comment

It's really a damn shame there's nobody better out there to fight, this is it! The K bros are too good. Hoped for Haye to be a real danger, but then he 'retired'. Not much left maybe a hopefully in shape Arreola to challenge Wlad later this year. Klitschko's could rightly retire, but they wont.Comment

The problem is none of these fighters are at this level.
Matter of fact who is there at the HW division?Comment

You're trying to tell me you're not a Klitschko hater, but you think Vitali is not even a top 200 ATG heavyweight right here, so you're not convincing me at all. Are you really able to name 200 heavyweights better than Vitali? I doubt it.Nothing happened to me. 1) He needs to keep his belts because if he vacated one rather then fighting a Thompson rematch for example then you would have a pretend titlist that most other top HW's would be lineing up to get a shot against and he would get avoided. Even with all the belts top contenders like Haye, Povetkin, Helenius, Arreola are turning down title shots. It's a disgrace.A fighter like Wlad has leverage on who he fights.

2) Fighting Mormeck is horrible but before he signed this fight the one he really wanted was Arreola at MSG and Chris turned him down as did Povetkin, Helenius, Fury.
3) I agree he should be going after legacy fights but even with 5 of the 6 belts he still has difficulty getting guys to fight. I hope he secured fights with Povetkin, Arreola, Pulev, Boytsov, Fury/Price over the next year and a half.Comment
