YOU SEE right there you don't know your history. CUBAN SALSA was started by CUBANS. Those rythms were around already in the Carribean and Columbia and Africa before all of that.
SALSA, what people listen to as salsa, like HECTOR LAVOE, WILLIE COLON, FRANKIE NEGRON, ISMAEL RIVERA, ETC. IS A DIFFERENT KIND OF SALSA STARTED BY NUYORICANS. THE DANCE IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT AS WELL.
With the exception of some Cuban greats that I need not mention, Rican Salsa is what popularized the genre around the world. Celia Cruz salsa is very different from El Gran Combo Salsa.
It's the same thing with Reggaeton. Dudes who don't know history say it started in Panama when in fact in Panama all they had was Reggae, just in Spanish language, but same exact beats. Ricans, who I do give credit to for doing this, added Hip Hop and traditional Rican rythms to Spanish Reggae and made that.
They are totally different but I notice haters like to ignore facts.Comment

typical rican.... trying to get credit for something that they didnt even start... the roots is all that matters.... salsa is cuban, and reggaeton is panamanian.. deal with it.YOU SEE right there you don't know your history. Typical hater. Spanish is from Spain, why aren't you speaking your "root" Mexican Indian language?
Mexico's most popular Musicians sing music that doesn't originate from Mexico dumbass. Boleros which come from Spain and Rock which is White American, deal with it.
And don't bring up that horse **** ranch country music nobody but back-road Mexicans listen to. Since Selena, a TEX MEX, R.I.P., you guys have been **** in music. I do like Camila, but that's rock. I guess that means Mexican musicians are ****? No dumbass, it means we are all human and can do music from wherever the influence comes from. Not our fault we Ricans become the most talented, popular artists of the genre, don't get mad.Comment

A nice diplomatic gesture by Vazquez towards Mexicans turns into a bashing thread of nuyoricans. wtf?
xcaret, mares did win his rematch against agbeko but he's still a balls puncher. you should stop being so racist the next atg mexican fighter will be a chicano.Comment

One of your favs is Miguel Cotto who likes to hit below the belt and slam people. Look at Judah & Clottey. Mares was getting his head pushed down most of the time which resulted in low blows.Comment

Latinos supporting Latinos is good but unfortunately in boxing, Ricans have big mouths and an attitude. They also disrespect Mexicans. I used to cheer for Ricans cause they are Latinos but thanks to Rican idiots from this site and the boxers' ultradefensive style, not anymore. I also believe they should be independent but thatīs another story. This is how it should be, Latinos supporting Latinos. Everytime Latinos fight I always support them regardless of where they come from, I consider all Latinos to be my brethren. I have lots of Colombian-American friends from where I worked and stuff and Puerto Rican friends too and we all hung out with eachother in an all white/black workplace, we supported eachother and had nothing but love and respect... ppl on the internet are just immature morons who gonna say what they want cuz they know their safe over the internet...
Vazquez gained my respect Saturday night but not because he came out with the Mexican flag, the dude took some crazy shots by Donaire and never gave up, he rocked his jab all night and though I didn't have Vasquez winning like one of the Latino judges did, but I did have it a close fight.Comment

*** PLEASE PEOPLE DON'T LISTEN TO THESE IGNORANT PEOPLE ***
Wow, I have never seen more hateful comment towards fellows on here. Recognize pana, there are more RICANS in NEW YORK than in PR so PLEASE STOP. You guys out there are really sad, you do realize all the movements out there with music, PR'S GREATEST CULTURAL CONTRIBUTION, started with Ricans who migrated to New York. Take hip hop, which elements are found in modern day Reggaeton (something that actually did start in PR), started the BRONX, my hometown where the NUYORICANS and African Americans were united and creating the genre TOGETHER. NUYORICANS have been pioneers of Hip Hop. And then SALSA, WHICH STARTED FROM NUYORICANS, and some of you try to talk **** about us?! You guys out there hate on us BUT COPY OUR STYLE. We have our own style and the women love it, especially the girls from PR and DR. We got the Spanish lingo with the American swagger and you guys are mad. Anytime I go to PR there's a fight over a *****'s *****! Most are cool but some, like this ******* here, then wants our respect and love when you come to NY. Out there I got ****ted on for being from NY by this one big mo****a everyone in the caserio was scared of, and I pressed homie, SO WHAT?! I CAN'T CHOOSE TO BE BORN SOMEWHERE! I AM PROUD TO BE AMERICAN AND NUYORICAN! And what he did? He took his **** off and we fought, and I whupped his ****ing ass! We aren't all ****** at all, wtf is this sterotype as on here as if all we do is go around annoying everyone. We are Teachers, Cops, Firefighters, all types of professionals and great caring human beings. I WOULDN'T MIND BEING IGNORED BY AN IGNORANT ******* RICAN LIKE YOURSELF, I SWEAR SOME OF MY OWN PEOPLE ARE CLOWNS.suk my nuyorican **** ******!!!!!!!
My ****ing family members and friends of my family have died for this country who are from new york and some of you want to talk that stereotype ****?
New york ricans are more humble and respectful than some of the animals en la isla. Seriously, people on here talk as if you've been to both places!!!! I have. Murder everywhere in san juan. People are the same everywhere, wtf! Racist envious putos i swear. Some of you probably didn't even know who was rican or not you don't even know how we look -- we look like all people bc we come black, white, mestizo, indio's... And you would never say this in new york on the 2 or 5 train. Nice and safe behind that pc rah? Son of a ***** you fake ass mexican ***** you don't know **** about culture or love or history that ricans put in in this country. Lol!!! Ever heard of the young lords? Puerto rican civil rights group, the only reason why latinos have equal rights in this country and can even learn english. We fight and die for this country and latin rights in this country since the beginning. We were the original latino immigrant. You ****face.Calm down drama queen.YOU SEE right there you don't know your history. CUBAN SALSA was started by CUBANS.
