Did living in America make them soft.

Edison Miranda-When he hit the scene i thought man he is special. But where did his power go did America make him soft.
Ike Quartay-If you know boxing you know how elite this guy was in his prime, all of the tools to be a king of whatever division he was fighting in,he had some success but i always think did America make him soft.
Kassim Ouma-the least talented of my 3 but still deserves a mention, early career he was greenlit by hbo as a potential superstar only to lose to competition beneath him and is now being treated as a gatekeeper.Did America make him soft?

I have also heard the same about many cuban fighters,as soon as they experience our freedom and such they party and thus lack the discipline they had before in Cuba.

I think that guys that grew up around the kind of luxury that Americans are used to are better at holding off...you might have a point. Guys like Miranda who literally had to fight to live and survive might be so hyped up at being able to fill their bellies every night that they lose the spark. But you can't have someone who's too well off or the fundamental drive isn't there.

And I think this is more a function of the individual fighters than the country itself.

Well, I think it is a matter of discipline and that would have got them in the end anyways no matter where they live.

Sure living in America and being successful offers a lot of oppurtunity to pursue other things, but if one is focused on the task at hand it can be overcome. It is understandable considering where these guys came from, but I just think no matter what that lack of discipline would have popped up in one way or another.

Or maybe, the level of competition is much better and they get exposed in America.

Edison Miranda was training out of Puerto Rico where there are tons of great fighters that have come from that island.

What about the many Mexican/American fighters that are about to dominate the scene?

Can't agree with you on this one man.

No. It's called getting weeded out via a step up in their level of competition, from the regional level, to the world class level.

And it must suck to be the rest of the NON-American world, where they are barely able to be competitive with a country filled with nothing but a fat, lazy, ****** population. And constantly come up short when faced against fighters from said country, OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
