Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, predicts that a proposed fight between Juan Manuel Marquez (53-6-1, 39KOs) and WBA/IBF junior welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (30-1, 15KOs) could draw up to 40,000 fans to Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Arum is trying to finalize a Marquez-Peterson fight for July 14th.

No way. Even with all the mexican support it wont be able to sell 40,000 tickets.

Peterson has no name and marquez isnt that popular IMO

why is Arum talking JMM/Peterson anyway..I thought he signed a one fight deal with just the Pac fight..is he trying to lure JMM in again..or was it more than a one fight deal he signed?!

Marquez is popular but I'm not sure about selling 40 thousand tickets all by himself. His popularity is at an all time high now. Marquez vs pac was the most watched fight in Mexican history I believe and that wasn't all down to pac.

He is now a popular fighter but we ill see just how popular when the tickets go on sale.

I could see 40,000 tickets sold with the majority of them being in the price range of $25-35.

Yeah. JMM, with all his skill and experience don't usually draw flies on his own. He has to beg for a Pac fight to make millions and regain some sense of popularity.

I'm a casual fan and I'll pay for this fight. But I don't think real boxing fans will pay for his fights unless his opponent is Pac or the duck.

                    ;-)
