Does Mayweather Fight Toe-to-Toe Because He WANTS Too or HAS too?

I keep hearing Mayweather saying, "you guys don't have to worry about me moving", before each of his fights.

I know Mayweather isn't in his prime, but I can't help but think he's fighting in this new type of style not for the crowd, but because he doesn't really have a choice.

Mayweather has put on a lot of muscle from his earlier days and I can't help but think he doesn't have the ability to fight an entire fight (sticking and moving) like he use too.

If he ever fought a guy like Kirkland, I'm not sure if this new toe to toe style is the right thing to do.

    Thoughts?

He doesn't have to employ any stick and move tactics and waste energy dancing as much anymore because he has grown into his body. He might get hit a couple of % more than he normally did, which is still probably a good distance from the next person who gets hit the least.

probably a combination of both. He is 35 years old after all.

I think we can all agree that mayweather jr dictates the pace in every one of his fights. His ring generalship is second to none. You can disagree but you would be wrong.

Of course he has to. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling himself. He has been fighting since he's been walking and is what, 35? Yep. Lucky for him, his ring generalship and boxing technique could carry him through for a while longer. Hard to say because you can never predict the night it comes crashing down. But it's coming and the fights he's been taking during the latter part of his career make it very interesting.

I've been waiting for one of those lazy Journalists/analysts to ask him about that.

If Hopkins can move at 47 then Floyd should be able to at 35
