Catchweights are made to prevent 15 to 20 pound weight differences on fight night....

The actual weight Pac's camp wanted was 142 or 143. Cotto refused to go lower than 145. To make the fight happen, Pac accepted that counter offer.

      Do you get it now?

Nah, there's a big difference. Pacquiao ruined DLH and Cotto before they got in the ring by using re-hydration clauses that meant they couldn't put on more than 2lbs after the weigh-in. Ideally both guys would've put on at least 10lbs after the weigh in so this just killed them. Canelo only has to come in 2lbs lighter than normal, 1lb less than one of his very recent fights, and he can put on as much weight as he wants to after the weigh-in. There's a huge difference between the two so it's asinine for people to act like it's the same thing. But with Floyd, people will come up with anything to discredit him.

His team dropped the ball by doing this because it's not going to make much, if any difference and people are condemning him for it. I actually think it was his dad who wanted the catchweight, not Floyd himself. But if you actually understand the situation there's really nothing to complain about. We should just be grateful that he took the fight, he could have just said "Screw that, why should I take on a guy who walks around 20lbs heavier than me?". Instead he's giving us what we want to see, but he still gets no credit for it.

You knew the fanboys would come to his defense and spin it another way.

Shame on Alvarez for wanting Floyd at 150.... such a coward. Floyd is more coward by making Alvarez come in 2 lbs heavier trying to make him fat like he and Pac did vs JMM at WW... lol Such cowards they are..

However Floyd's way worse as he demands re-hydration clauses...

Let me remind you too why Floyd's request is more chicken**** by any measure:

                      1. Pac waited till his 7th division, 10 above his starting. Floyd did it in 5.
                      2. Pac was moving up in weight both times, a traditional CW, tons of precedents. Floyd is the only 2x champ EVER to ask for a CW where he's holding a belt.
                      3. In just 1 fight he's contesting for more CW belts than Pac his entire career
                      4. He's contesting for "lineal" belt at a CW lol
                      5. Pac never said anything like this:

" I look at Miguel Cotto as an undefeated fighter because he faced Pacquiao, but Pacquiao caught him at a catch weight. He wasn't the best Miguel Cotto. He was drained. He wasn't hydrated. "

But I didn't know about any rehydration clause, feel free to add that one.
