unfortunately once again this is a fight Mayweather won't get much credit for because the excuse will be "Martinez was Drained"

not only that stylistically...Martinez style is only effect when "HE IS THE FASTER GUY IN THE RING" if he is not the faster guy then his style will not be as effective...imagine him leaving his hands down against Mayweather and him trying to counter Mayweather

While on Paper this match up looks amazing, especially with Two Top 5 P4P Fighters...but I think the Results would be a very One Sided Boxing Clinic put on by Mayweather IMO and Martinez loses nothing, he runs back to 160 and will still be the Champion

It is such a joke that i cant believe Floyd actually said it. If Floyd did actually say it, then he really wants to be a comedian now as a career and is retired from boxing now.
He wants Sergio to come down 10lbs, and Flooyd is only willing to go up 3 lbs. Someone call the cops, Floyd just mugged Sergio in daylight robbery.

But sorry Floyd, you never told Sergio to come down to 150 it was Pac who said it. You want to go to 160 dont you?

                  Ree****yaluss has a point.

                  Still, I understand SweetScience's sentiment.

Seems to me that he's just tired of listening to people celebrate mediocrity when there is a bonafide legend competing in this era.

Its a bit disconcerting to watch Floyd beat guys when they are on top and get criticized for doing it.

Then Pacquiao fights his blueprint after the fact and is celebrated as some pioneering trailblazer. Its hypocritical to say the least. I mean .. doing what someone did months later doesn't hold the same value or wonder that being the first to do it does.

Seems to me that Sweetscience has a point as well.

Mayweather fighting Martinez is especially appealing because fans know its the one fight that Pacquiao cannot take after Mayweather without asking for an embarrassing catchweight.

That has been Pacquiao's M.O. He's tried to follow behind Floyd in nearly every regard. The only time that Manny has stepped out of Floyd's shadow is when he would rather have Arum set him up with fights against his Top Rank stablemates than face the top WW.

Manny refused Shane and Mayweather for YEARS. Its documented. He sure was willing to face Shane once Shane got exposed though.

I think what many of us would like to see is Pacquiao aggressively pursue a fight with a top fighter who isn't Marquez. Everytime he fights Marquez he gets shown for his flaws and his shortcomings. We all know this.

This last time was the most lopsided of the trilogy. Yet the judges gave it to Pacquiao. I cannot stress "GAVE" enough.

So if Sweetscience has a bit of anger, frustration or expresses dissatisfaction with the current way that hype has trumped true and extraordinary talent, I completely understand.

It seems that some of you are saying that there are others out there that are good too, but Sweetscience is saying that there is only one #1.

Someone else can be #1. They just have to consistently beat the #1 & #2 fighters in their current division and in every subsequent division they move up to. To date, Pacquiao has NOT done that. In fact, he isn't even planning to try to do that, and he is content fighting men who are ranked lower than 4th.

                  Speak your mind, Sweetscience.

Martinez can't make 150 comfortably by May 5th after fighting in March so I doubt this fight is gonna happen.

                      100% Agreed!

My Grandfather, who is a long time boxing fan, told me before he died, at the age of 102. He said that, "Mayweather is light years beyond his era, many can not see how special Mayweather is because thier blinded by hate". "The American Black Man is the most feared, loved and hated Man on the Planet". "They will hate Mayweather and discredit him by underminding his accomplishments for as long as hes active"."20 years after hes retired from boxing,Mayweather will go down in history as the best ever to lace up a pair of Gloves". "Those that hate him now, will love him in the end". "They hated, discredited, and loved Jack Johnson, Muhammed Ali, Iron Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Robinson and now Floyd Money Mayweather". "It all ends the same, he said, the "African Blood line" is filled with physical and mental gifts!
