Peterson signs with Top Rank make $$$$. Do you remember when Khan left Warren to join Golden Boy again for $$$$. Warren was going on and on about having a fight fixed with Bradley but Khan signed with GBP. By your definition Khan signed up with GBP to avoid Bradley. Which is bollox he signed to further his career which is what Peterson is doing. The only difference is Khan was already in money when he moved and Peterson has only had one big payday.
If Peterson beats Marquez which he won't he will offer Khan a rematch because there won't be a more financially viable fight out there but it won't be on Team Khan's terms. Which Team Khan won't like so they may refuse it for financial reasons. If that happens are you going to call Khan a duck job?

what up Dirk, do you honestly feel if kahn won a close decision he would rematch peterson instead of chasing a marquez fight and possibly a pac fight down the line?

Anyone who believes Warren had a fight set up with Bradley is an idiot. The point is that while Peterson is with Top Rank, hes not gonna be fighting Khan.

What? The cost of the electricity to turn on that big ass screen will be more than the gate.

I think they should build a 40,000 seat temporary stadium next to the Cowboy Stadium to make this fight ... LOL.

Although this is an interesting contrast of styles, I don't like this fight for either fighter.

Marquez shouldn't fight Peterson because at this stage in his career he is entitled to the big money fights. Peterson doesn't have a big fan base and is just coming off the first big win of his career. Marquez has done more than his fair share of chasing titles and climbing the rankings, and could turn old overnight at any moment here on in. As such, he needs to make the best monetary decisions for himself in these last few fights of his career.

Peterson shouldn't fight Marquez for 2 reasons. The first is that although most real boxing fans would give him full credit for beating Marquez, that doesn't change the fact that Marquez is a 38 year old future hall of famer looking for his last few paychecks, and is coming of a well fought but demoralising loss, while Peterson is 28 years old, in his prime and coming off the biggest win of his career. imo Peterson would be better off facing a recognised contender in LWW such as the winner of Alexander Maidana or Mattyhsse.

The second reason is, and I know you can criticise me for condoning ducking for this, but Marquez is simply too big a risk. Peterson was very lucky to get the win against Khan and needs to use this opportunity to become recognised as a top tier fighter. Although it would be a competitive fight, despite his size advantage imo Peterson isn't ready for someone with Marquez's elite level of skill.

The WBA has ordered a rematch between him and Khan to take place within 180 days, and a win over a ranked LWW contender followed by beating Khan a second time would be enough for him to begin campaining at WW and with a win there get a fight against the likes of Bradley, Ortiz or Berto, and winning that a shot against Mayweather or Pacquiao. Peterson's management need to do as much as they can to ensure that Peterson can win his next fight while still facing a credible opponent, as even if he beats Khan after losing this coming fight it wouldn't give him the same momentum.

I'm not saying that beating Marquez wouldn't give Peterson recognition, it's just that he can still get enough recognition by fighting less of a threat.

Marquez-Peterson is a good fight, and it is going to draw since it is in Texas. It's a winnable fight for Peterson with a lucrative follow up (Pacquiao-Bradley) if he wins.
