I thought you were talking about Pac since my whole premise for the thread was that I think Floyd would fight him at 154 but he wants to test the 154 waters 1st. I dont think Floyd would fight him on May 5th for 2 reasons. 1 is he wants to test the waters, and 2 is that he wants to be more active. I think if he had that 1 fight there 1st to get comfortable and knock off all the rust then he would feel alot better about fighting him there next

cmon D, floyd already tested the waters at 154 vs oscar. the fact that he's older now and when he rehydrates after the weigh in he cant come in at 147 on fight night like he used to in his early days at 147 makes the whole testing the waters at 154 because he hasnt fought there since the oscar fight is ABSOLUTELY MOOT. Wasnt floyd even bragging about fighting winky then when it came down to actually making a fight with winky he pushed him aside? Join the club winky.

Come fight night he's weighing in close to or around a 154 pounder. Why do you think he hasnt allowed hbo to take his fight night weight ever since he returned?

Your second reason is also rubbish. We have seen floyd come back to fight after long layoffs and not let it affect his sharpness and reflexes in the ring. See marquez, mosley, and now ortiz fight. Doesnt floyd himself and *****s always bragging about how floyd stays in shape even when not fighting and is always a gym rat?

Sergio win brings much more legacy to floyd other than a pac win and floyd being floyd, he will hit 1 mill plus ppvs and still make money. If floyd really was serious about fighting sergio it would have happened by now.

I disagree. Everyone kept saying crazy stuff like Floyd was over 160 against JMM and he's huge now. Then he got on the scale against Ortiz and it said 150. If Floyd never got on that scale everyone wouldve sweared again that he was huge. He's not. Sergio will be over 165 for this fight. He's going to at the least have a 15 pound advantage. I didnt say he needs to test the waters totally. He's still going to be fighting a good guy in Cotto or Canelo. Its not like he's fighting a bum. He's just not fighting one of the other best fighters in the world, who fights at MW, and is a Southpaw. He'd be crazy to jump straight to that. It be one thing if he was as big as you say but he's not.

The Winky stuff is B.S. People bring that up all the time just to hate. The fact is that Floyd had just fought Gatti at 140 and was small at that weight, only coming into thte ring at 143 pounds for all his fights while Winky had just shutout Tito at MW and was a huge 154 pounder, yet Winky wanted 50/50. I cant believe people act like Floyd was faking or shouldve jumped at that. Why would Floyd take that risk for 50/50 like Winky is some big money man or something. Floyd wanted more and shouldve gotten it easily.

3rd is that Floyd is a beast and the long layoffs with great success proved it but he still was a lil off against Ortiz and is getting older. Thats why I dont think he will ever do another layoff unless its a long or permanent one. Like he will be retired foreal. Its one thing to be sharpe, its another thing to be sharpe enough to fight Pac & Sergio with just 4 rounds under your belt in over 2 years at age 35. Thats nothing to play with

cmon d, sergio and vic ortiz were basically the same weight on fight night in their last fights. You said it yourself, floyd weighed in 150 vs ortiz. how much you think he rehydrates come fight night? He's basically a 154 pounder.

When it comes to elite fighters, the weight issue is pointless. Fans and media make a big deal about weight when in reality it really doenst matter when its between two fighters 1 or two divisions apart.

henry armstrong holding 3 divisions at the same time, tyson knocking guys off despite giving up 20-30lbs, and what pacquiao has done recently, has shown you that the all the weight talk is a buncha balderdash. People put too much stock in weights. All these catchweight criticisms are really pointless because of the 24 hr rehydration. Catchweight advantage are in actuality placebos and more of a false sense of security, a mental edge as oppose to a physical edge.

sergio on fight night vs barker and victor on fight night vs floyd were basically the same weight. so what's the problem? Its not as if sergio is a career middleweight or 154 pounder. All that being said, floyd doesnt need to fight sergio because sergio needs to fight 160 pounders and if he's as bad ass as these closet ho mo s on bscene think sergio is, he should be fighting at 168 for more money and legacy.

Did I say weigh-in? If so, I meant fight night. Floyd weighed in at 147 or 146 and was 150 on fight night, not anywhere near 154. Go back & watch it. They said Ortiz is 165 & Floyd is 150 tonight.

Thats why I think Floyd fought Ortiz. Because he's a big strong Southpaw but it only went 4 rounds and its still a lil different then Sergio. ts like Rios is over 150 in the ring for some fights but is fighting Rios the same as fighting Floyd or Pac? Its still different. Again though, we are not that far different. I think Floyd should fight him and I think he would.

Im just saying that I think they would rather entertain that thought 1 fight later so there will be no guessing. They would know for sure where they stand if Floyd had that 1 extra fight and that 1 fight at 154. They would know for a fact how he would stack up then. Now they would be thinking he probably would be alright but there is a doubt
