the craziest thing is mayweather demanded 20 million to fight delahoya as part of his top rank contract. 7 and 8 millino to fight cotto and marg was at least possible but floyd had to make an impossible demand to make sure he got out of his contract. then after he left top rank he fought delahoya for 10 million so it was never about the money. it was about leaving top rank because he didin't want to fight bob's guys. it wasn't about being his own man and making the most money either because he never went back and fought cotto when it was the biggest fight in boxing. just like he's doing with pac right now. it's just a complete joke. it was about him being in control and not putting himself at risk.

Steve Kim was right when he wrote..

"I find it odd that certain fans really seem to have a vested interest in what their favorite boxers earn in the ring and almost feel as though they share in it somehow (Because of that, while they have never been managers or promoters, they certainly like to play them on the Worldwide Web). The Mayweather following seems to be the most guilty of this lunacy. Hate to break it to you guys but being part of the “Money Team” doesn’t get you dental or medical benefits or a pension and it certainly doesn’t get you part of the pay-per-view proceeds. There’s no profit sharing here involved."

      Pathetic..lol..
      1) Don't go around calling people schoolyard names, it make you sound like a twelve year old. And don't give that everyone else is doing it, because that will make you sound like a 10 year old. Who knows you might be, if you are, I understand and you will hopefully grow out of this in a few years time.

      2) I am no fan of Floyd's and I don't care how much he makes.

      3) I posted the numbers up because thats what they were, so it can be seen that money was not the factor in not fight Margarito and choosing Baldomir.

Hope this clarifies things for you.

One of Floyd's excuses for not fighting Margarito was that he was not an household name. And Carlos Baldomir is?

In a recent interview with USA Today , promoter Bob Arum went back on the attack with respect to a November bout between his fighter Antonio Margarito and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Arum says that Mayweather is avoiding the bout because he does not want to take any fight that might destroy a potential bout with Oscar De La Hoya in 2007.

"My guy Antonio will fight anybody," Arum said. "I understand what the situation is from Floyd's standpoint. He's hoping beyond hope to fight Oscar De La Hoya, and he knows that Antonio is a tough fight. If Antonio beats him, goodbye to a De La Hoya fight, so he's not going to take the chance."

Mayweather shot back and said that he earned the right to choose who he wants to fight. The target date of Mayweather's ring return is November 4 on HBO pay-per-view. The opponent is unknown, but Margarito is the least likely candidate according to Mayweather. He feels the Mexican warrior has not done enough in his career to make his name big enough to bring in the big pay-per-view numbers.

"He's not a household name," Mayweather says. "To get to where I'm at, I had to beat a lot of good fighters. I've proven myself over and over again. It's about business decisions and being smart. We need guys who are going to generate good numbers on pay-per-view, and Antonio Margarito is not known enough to bring in the non-boxing fans. We're trying to go to the next level."
Floyd never had no interest in fighting Marg, too much of a risk.

Another excuse from Floyd, he is injured.

Mayweather adviser Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com that Mayweather passed on the fight not because he is ducking Margarito, but because he couldn't be ready to fight by Aug. 12. Mayweather injured his right hand during a dominating April 8 victory against Zab Judah.

"Floyd is not 100 percent healthy," Ellerbe said. "He has a bruised right hand. His hand is not broken. It's bruised, but it's a bad bruise. He wants to go into any fight 100 percent healthy. If Antonio Margarito happens to be the best available option when he is healthy, so be it.

"We are not turning down Margarito. I want to make that crystal clear. When and if he is the best available option for Floyd's next fight, that's the direction he will move in."
People complain, when it was though Pacquiao's eye could take 4 months to heal properly. But Floyd bruises his hand and that take 6 months to get right.

I'm sure if Floyd ask for the fight in October, Marg would have accepted.

The way they catches liars out in interrogations, is for inconsistencies and changing stories.

I see you are still campaigning for the title of the most useless member on the site.

Another stellar contribution there, you are a shoe in for the title for sure.

he earned the right to choose who he wants to fight aka easy fighters. stop telling me to fight dangerous guys bob or i'm leaving! this is the funniest thing i've ever read. then he goes and fights carlos baldomir who was brought in to lose to judah. it would be like chavez jr fighting ishida over martinez. yeah sorry martinez you don't bring in enough ppv buys but this japanese dude who has fought once on hbo and has an upset win does. boink! yet *****s believe this crap.

errr wait maybe it was because baldo was lineal except that has nothing to do with popularity. zsolt erdei was linear and no one knew who the hell he was. floyd also said he doesn't figth for belts they only collect dust but tha'ts a different contradiction let's move on. margarito was a popular mexican fighter who was featured on boxing networks time and time again and he was ranked number 1 for years. mr baldomir comes along and all off a sudden he's ppv gold! if there was a holiday named after antonio margarito his name still wouldn't be big enough to fight floyd.

that's why he's dangerous. he throws a high volume of punches from all angles.
baldomir is so slow you can time him with a calendar. he'll set you up for a 12 round unanimous decision victory.
Al least he can throw a straight punch...Tony is slow and WIDE..
