Linares may fight in Venezuela next

Venezuelan Boxing Company Boxtrack is looking to promote a world title fight in Venezuela and is in intensive talks to bring former world champion Jorge Linares to challenge WBA lightweight interim world champion Richard Abril. Possible venues for the event would be Maracay, Puerto La Cruz and Caracas. The last world title fight in Venezuela was in March 2010 between Panamanian Anselmo Moreno and the Venezuelan Nehomar Cermeno for the WBA bantamweight world title, also promoted by Boxtrack. The WBA is evaluating what to do with Abril’s interim world champion status and could declare him full champion. Linares is the WBA’s #2 contender.

Nice Linares really made a fan out of me with his losing effort against DeMarco. Should be a helluva fight this!

Ya i always liked Linares but against Demarco i was cheering for Tony but Linares's heart impressed me so much like i knew he had them skills but with the blood pouring its so easy to go into a shell but he came out firing.Showed a good chin too Demarco has good pop and Linares took plenty off shots. If he fights Abril thats no gimme.Abril is a good fighter so should be a good test

Follow up article from Today different opponent

A reliable source indicates that Venezuelan former two-division world champion Jorge Linares could fight in La Guaira, Venezuela, on March 31 probably against Mexican Noe “Platanito” Bolaños (24-5-1, 16 KOs). Linares, who is hoping to land a rematch with Mexican Antonio DeMarco, the current WBC lightweight world champion in the summer, would be returning to the same city he faced Dominican Francisco Lorenzo in March 2010, the last big event for Venezuelan boxing. Promoter BoxTrack will also try to include other world title fights with current Venezuelan world champions Johan Perez (WBA interim super lightweight), Liborio Solis (WBA interim super flyweight) and Ogleydis Suarez (WBA interim featherweight

i've actually met abril and i've seen him fight
he's not a bad fighter at all

i actually had him beating hank lundy. he's a very solid boxer.\

unfortunately he's not a puncher in the least, and not very eye catching. i think linares will get the nod on the merits of who he is, and how sound his boxing looks

              still, though
having him go 12 rounds with a solid boxer might be too soon yet
