Also IMO Dirrell just said thanks but not thanks to a Bute match up.
I also think all the decisions Dirrell just made are a bad career. Keep Haymon and there is no reason for Bute to even consider fighting him Detroit or even the states.

The alphabet soup rankings are meaningless anyway. Real boxing fans know who the best guys in the division are. Dirrell's performances in the Super Six show that he is one of them.

If you want to say that Froch is more deserving and more of an action fighter I won't argue that point though. His resume is beyond reproach.
Agree on the ratings. Just a curious move. No shock if he still gets Bute but it's not the better fight IMO and there is reason to be skeptical about his reasons for exiting the Six (though breaking with Haymon without real market appeal back him may validate a head injury...snark). I see no reason he should be rewarded for a layoff and Cunningham immediately.

Could end up with Bute-Froch but no Showtime. They have an option on Bute but he could come back for that later if they work something. That would be great.

If Bute fights Froch next I'm fine with it. But if not then a Dirrell fight on Showtime is certainly a good option.

Just as long as we're spared any more Jesse Brinkley types. (who WAS ranked by the IBF by the way.)

I was just pointing out that the Peterson example doesn't work here unless Dirrell is willing to wait. Not valiadting the ****** IBF ratings. Uugh.

I will ask this though for anyone who says they'd prefer Dirrell (not singling you because you don't seem to adamant either way)...if you, as a fan, were inviting people over to invite them in as fight fans who weren't already in any big way, which of the two matches would you think does the job better?

Froch would make for a more action-packed fight. Are you happy?

But I think Dirrell has a better chance of beating Bute.

The Peterson comparison doesn't work here with Dirrell. Peterson was a mandatory he had that going for him. Dirrell isn't a mandatory, he doesn't have that going for him.

I think some are shockingly underrating the true influence that Haymon has over both networks. Showtime only wanted one opponent for Bute since Ward wasn't available and that was Dirrell and Dirrell only. IMO Haymon was the reason for that.

Without Haymon, he isn't getting the TV dates he would have received with him. Nor would he get the type of money he would have received by the network(s).

What does Dirrell bring to the table? He brings no fan base, he brings no ratings, he doesn't bring excitement on a consistent basis, he brings no money, he doesn't even have Haymon now.

I think he is in a tough spot. Him dropping Shaw, great move IMO. But, you keep Haymon. Dropping Haymon is just a ****** move. And, now honestly I wouldn't be surprise if Showtime accepts Bute-Froch just because there isn't that Al Haymon influence anymore for Dirrell. And, even if Showtime don't want it. Bute-Froch can happen without them. And, they still will make money. And, if Bute wins(not a given) he can comeback at the end of the year and fight Ward if or when he is available.

I wouldn't be surprise if we don't see Dirrell on either network TV for the rest of this year.
