After the tough road that Froch has taken, I think it's unfair of Showtime to say that they're only interested in televising him if he fights Dirrell.

TV companies are interested in ratings and good fights, so I wouldn't blame them for turning down the rumoured 10-rounder Froch is considering for Nottingham, especially as the UK venue means an early start time. But to say that Dirrell is the only acceptable opponent is ridiculous.

I can't see Dirrell being willing to return to the UK (understandably), so that means the fight would have to be in America.

When others were finding excuses to pull out, Froch stuck with it even though it meant travelling abroad more than anyone else and even though it meant not being able to build up more of a British following. Maybe he wouldn't have become a big star in the UK anyway, but we've seen enough fighters stay on home soil holding their belts hostage and making good money doing it.

Meanwhile, Dirrell stunk the place out against Froch and then faked an injury to avoid Ward. How the hell are they going out of their way to get favourable fights for someone with Dirrell's track record, and doing so at the expense of Froch, who I think did pretty damn well by them.

I think Showtime are handling this very badly. Push for Froch to fight a name opponent by all means but don't insist that he has to go to the US again to fight someone he's already had a stinker with.

Excellent post but I think there is a flip side to that. For starters, Froch does deserve a soft touch at home but he doesn't have to fight on Showtime. But he'll want to because he wants the big check. If Showtime isn't willing to give him one unless he fights a top dog, I'm all for that. Just wish there was some consistency with these networks.

Froch should take a tune up first his body needs it after all the tough fights in the tournament. If Froch is 100% ready on april 4th I think he wins.
