Rios talks so much ****. Cotto would spark the little ****er if they'd met @ 147(when he fought at that weight). I'm still more interested in the Marquez fight but if Cotto lands it then it's sure to be fireworks all over again.

that fight might of meant something to Cotto and his fans...but it meant nothing overall.
Margarito was coming off a TKO lose a mediocre tune up and a sever beating...
he wasn't even ranked @ 154.
definitely not a great win for Cotto.... he should fight someone he actually has a chance against like Canelo
It may not appear as a great win for Cotto, but a win is a win, and in the grand scheme of things it was necessary because Miguel needed to prove a point-- he needed to get this thorn on his side removed prior to moving forward.
But then again, aren't there many boxers whose fights appear to mean nothing overall? Such as Pacquiao-Clottey, or Mayweather-Mosley (the 2010 version of Mosley that is)? There are a lot of fights that we boxing fans wish would materialize, but in the end that doesn't always happen because promoters see boxing as a business. So I think it would be good to just enjoy fights as they come and not assess fights and say, albeit subjectively, that they would "mean nothing overall."Comment

Mosley was a top P4P when Mayweather fought him... not to mention he was coming off a great winComment

Its funny how all the experts here at NSB predicted that Cotto was mentally owned by Margo and was going to fold again.
Now Margo is shot and the performance doesn't count. Cotto IS war torn but has enough to give a good fight against any top opponent.
IMO he doesn't beat either Floyd or Pac in any stage of his career.Comment

Cotto isn't DONE. Margarito is DONE. Mosley is DONE. Castillo is DONE.
Cotto is past his prime-still good. He's the same guy he was in 09' when he fought Manny, only at SWW.
I like Rios, but Antonio was going to KO Cotto in the 11th or 12th??? Spoken like a member of the same training camp. Cotto was beating Margarito down pretty good the entire fight. There may have been a round that I thought Margarito won.Comment

I think he can beat Pac now if it's a fair weight. Cotto showed that his right hand is going to be hard enough to make Pac worry about both hands. Watching the Marg fight, he was rocking Marg with a couple of rights. Not hurting him but knocking him off balance, against Manny it's going to be much more affective, he'll way 20 pounds less than Marg. Its funny how all the experts here at NSB predicted that Cotto was mentally owned by Margo and was going to fold again.

However, at this stage I don't think he beats Mayweather because he has GREAT skills but Floyd's are better. Cotto will win 4-5 rounds off that alone, however, there HAVE to be times where he has to be a all over Floyd. For Floyd you need a combination of skills and gameplans, at least I think. You can't just go in the fight and box or go in there and maul him. You need to mix up doing this in between rounds and even during rounds Cotto is versatile and has enough power to keep Floyd from getting comfortable in there I think. The problem is that I don't think Cotto has the Judah/Paulie type fire he once had, he's about the money now which each fighter does. Anyone would if they just made 5 million + paydays. He'll make Floyd look vulnerable but without that BEAST mode, I wouldn't put my money on Cotto.Comment

Clottey who was coming off a loss to Cotto and a no longer prime Mosley who defeated a mentally disturbed Margarito (after being caught red handed with illegal wraps)? I don't think these two fights are "great" nor have a significant impact overall, so that means they also meant nothing overall.Last edited by Dat; 01-27-2012, 01:20 AM.Comment

We knew Margs was going to get hit, we knew cotto would run, we knew the eye was going to swell, we knew the tide would start to turn, the fight was stopped before cotto got stopped...let's give both men credit. With that said, Cotto still has a couple scraps under his belt.Comment
