Garcia indeed is corrupted too. He's protecting his fighter really bad because he knows that Guillermo Rigondeaux is the best fighter:natural, powerful, master defense, and hardest body puncher boxing history has seen....
Being a trainer who was his fighter to be the best you want to fight all the champions....but in this case Garcia in a very gross manner takes a shortcut and avoid the real champion:Guillermo Rigondeaux.
Shame on you Garcia...you are a coward and a shame for boxing.

I disagree with Garcia. For making money, sure Arce is a much better fight but from a boxing fan, its Rigo.

I think before we all crucify Robert Garcia for his comments (for the record I would love to see Rigondeaux/Donaire) we all need to understand that it's also Arum who dictates who and when Donaire will fight.

After the whole Lopez/Salido disaster for Arum I think he is going to go after competitive/profitable fights for Donaire who let's not forget is 29 and no longer a young lion so the clock is ticking on him and sure he could dominate well into his thirties or he could crash you never know what could happen in this violent sport that we all love.

Thus fights against higher profile fighters but not necessarily better fighters against Arce,Lopez,Gamboa, are all potential big money makers for Arum and of course Garcia and Donaire. Rigondeaux is a really talented fighter and like many posters here I feel he could easily beat Arce,Lopez, and give Gamboa and Donaire a hell of a challenge if not beat them both when all things are considered. However that is the reason why Arum and Co are holding off a little, not simply based on fear or arrogance but because we all know that boxing is as much a business as it is a sport and at this moment Rigondeaux is a talented guy but in Arums world also a risky guy for his marketable fighters.

Like all of you I find that to be a load of Bull S### the best should fight the best and as a fan I could care less of financial ramifications since I just wanna see the best fights possible and let's not forget that Rigondeaux is what 32? 33? so the clocks also ticking on him also. However I am not that much of a pessimist since a fight between Donaire versus Arce,Gamboa, or Lopez promises to be entertaining even if Donaire kills em all but you know what? I think Rigondeaux just needs to grin a little, keep winning, and make the world notice how good he really is and then perhaps a showdown against Donaire is inevitable sometime down the line. Remember Garcia has to stay in company line can't blame the guy and I think deep down inside he wants the challenge of Rigondeaux ditto with Donaire. No trainer is ever 100% honest I mean has Roach ever been entirely honest in all his statements or interviews?

God I love boxing even with all it's horse poo.

but I think the most competitive opponent for Donaire right now it's Rigondeaux!!!. They mention gamboa because they know gamboa it is moving up to 130 or 135!

but just like I said before. take off gamboa's name from nonito's list. garcia knows that gamboa it is moving up to 130 and probably he won't be available to fight at 126 after nonito fight with vazquez and arce.

Rigondeaux only has 9 fights. He is very skilled but the casual fans dont know who he is. If Donaire and Rigondeaux ever do fight, I think it would be at 126. Hopefully Guillermo Has at least 18 fights by then. Then they can market a fight properly between the 2.
I'm with you on this one. Rigo is the best at 122, as far as I'm concerned, but he's too good and still relatively unknown to be worth the risk. It'll take a few more (exciting) fights before Rigondeaux becomes too noteworthy to be ignored.

I hate to say it, but no one cares about Guillermo yet. They will once the Cubans themselves start caring about their fighters. As guys like Rigo and Gamboa climb higher and higher, the Cuban fan-base will grow. Everybody loves a winner and wants to be associated with one. Once the Cuban money starts pouring in, our fighters will no longer be ignored.

By the way, I like Robert Garcia. I think he's a terrific trainer. Yes he likes to take the role of promoter, but I don't see a problem with that. He's articulate and logical enough to do so.

thats not going to be easy because where do they put mexican fighters to fight in los angeles or las vegas and puerto riccans in new york thats why they sell out in the arenas they would sell out anywhere elese, there is no cuban people in new yor or las vegas if they fought in miami like lets say gamboa or rigondeaux agaisnt other people it would sell out and everybody knows that.

Arce vs. Donaire is not a competitive fight. If Donaire beats Vazquez convincingly, I dont see what an Arce fight what do for his career. On the other hand, Rigondeaux vs. Donaire is a great fight, but might be better suited after Chacal cleans up 122 and eventually meet Donaire sometime down the line.
