I don't care what weight this fight would be agreed upon it's not weight that would win the fight it's overall skill and ring generalship.
I can't believe people are still playing the little man vs big man theory with Manny when he was still whooping fools bigger than he was despite catch weights.
Listen, I'm a BIG Cotto fan but let's face it skill wise he's not in Pac's league. Speed he can't match Manny, and stamina is Miguel's Achilles heel where Manny has a Trinidad effect in that he only gets stronger in the later rounds.
I say a repeat of the first fight only sooner if this ever comes to play..Comment

Come on man, wake up.Some of you guys are seriously delusional, assuming the weight will not make a difference. At 145 Manny even admitted that his punches hurt, but that he had to make it look like they weren't, Freddie knew Marg was still in Cotto's head. If he couldn't hurt you, and he got hurt first he was just lost especially without a trainer to give him any kind of direction.
The uppercut was more a result of Cotto's horrible techinque in that fight, watch that knockdown again, Cotto's head was lower than his arms when he was throwing a punch. Not having a trainer had a horrible affect on Cotto, along with the weight. Cotto maybe came in weighing 155 on fight night, as JMW he comes in weighing 160-165, that's a lot more than Manny will weigh and the punches WILL affect Manny more, period. It isn't just that but a trainer with his renewed technique and a gameplan this time, not just to slug it out with Manny. I'm just saying there is a reason Manny doesn't want Cotto at 150, because he knows Cotto is a lot more dangerous at the weight.
Weight is not going to be a factor in this fight because:
1. more weight does not translate into more punching power;
2. Cotto does not use his weight to his advantage; and,
3. added weight does not improve your ability to take a punch.
Cotto is not appreciably taller than Manny, so any weight gain has only made Cotto slower.
If they fight, Manny simply hits Cotto at will. If Cotto comes in, Manny moves side to side and catches him with a big punch. If Cotto backs up (as he did against Margo) Manny tracks him down and breaks up his face.
If Cotto can't land any meaningful punches, and can't take any meaningful punches, how is he going to win?Comment

At 150 Cotto has a chance this time he'll fight a smart tactical fight in the first fight in the beginning when he was patient taking his time he was able to effectively counter Pacquiao and he was out boxing him things changed when Cotto started to become more aggressive leaving himself open to the quick handed Pacquiao catching him in between exchanges his new trainer will give him a better gameplan to work with this time aroundComment
